I really like to read the post here and rarely do Ipost, however, I got a kick out of everything said on this topic thus far. For me, it's God, Family, Country,Dodge Hemi Trucks, in that order. It's cool that even on this great site, we can agree to dissagree on touchy subjects, especially politics. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and I personally encouragethem all, since I have friends with the Budweiser on their shirts (Navy Seals) who fought and are fighting to make our great country safe for us Republicans, Democrats, Independents etc...
Politics...Politicians...I know a lot of them... I respect them all and don't always agree with them, however, whatI never ever forget is that regardless if they're for the elephant, or the ***, uh,I mean donkey, I still respect them, even if their party wins a presidential election, I still respect the president and his office, and that one word, respect, seems to have slipped by the wayside over the past ten or so years.
Disrespecting a President is nothing short of communistic and a form of treason as far as I'm concerned, and yet, the Bush bashing is relentless, ruthless, and disrespectful, and still, some of our elected officials do it openly, all of the time, andI find it disturbing and greatly un-American. How happy the enemy must be to see such dissention in our leadership. I may not have agreed with Clintons behavior in the Oval Office, but I never forgot he was our elected leader. Respect starts at home I guess. Maybe I'm just Old School, that's true, but man, I love this country and the opportunities we have here.
Besides...Where the hell else can you go andwork hard, and earn enought money to purchase, thendrive around in a 07, Ram 1500, Hemi, Quad Cab, Bright Silver with 20" wheels that scream like a bat out of hell when you stomp on the gas while rolling down a highway that will take you North to Maine or South to Florida with no red lights either way, and without having permission papers from a government to do so? You sure as heck can't do that in Iran. But you sure as heck can do that here, in the good Old USA. Man, I'm feeling patriotic right now, I think I'lldrive my pick-upto a baseball game tonight with my kids, buy copious amounts of hotdogs and peanuts, and stand up and sing the national anthem, and grab an apple pie on the way home. lol. It's great to be an American! Enjoy the weekend.

 

You don't have to respect the man, but you have to respect the uniform. Anyone that has ever worked for someone who is an officer you know what I mean.

Jetpig, you said it exactly right. If nobody has figured out, I am military. Have been for 22 years, so yes, been there, done that. Like I said, Saddam was a threat, no he wasn't tied to Bin Laden, no he had no WMD. Funny part is, WMD is a media term, not military. We look at things a little differently, more objectively. We stopped from unseating him in '91 because it would have created a vacuum which Iran would have filled and been to large a threat. We castrated him. Over time, he become threatening again, being more and more beligerant to UN inspectors, etc. Yes, notall of our intel was correct, but that is a previous administrations fault for castrating our intel abilities.I also agree, after we removed him, we should have left Iraq shortly after. We will not make this a democracy! They are a tribal society and always will be. We will not bring piece and open a Wal-mart and Disneyland so don't bother trying. Oh and if you whine about, "What about the poor people?" Believe me, they are much better off then they ever were. Everybody hates us for what we have, not what we do. Lastly, Vandal hit itspot on, why is it we don't respect our prez anymore? Yes you have the right not to, but do you truly, in your heart think our country fathers would stand there and watch you burn a flag? Yea right, grow up. Yea, this country would have been great if during the Clinton 8 years, who I personally don't think was all that bad a prez, the military said screw it. "We don't respect him, we are going to protest every decision he makes because we don't agree!" We may not agree with who's in charge but suck it up and support the MAN because he is your President! Do you know that countries way worse off then us laugh at us because of the way we treat are leaders. They got nothing but a goat (not a Ram)and a bike and they laugh at us. If you disagree, fine, vote the other way. If the majority of people are on your side, it'll go that way. But if you lose, don't be a sore loser, back this country whatever it decides and respect it. That is what this country was founded on.

 

Seems to me the only thing the left is really good at is breeding hate and separatism. Difference is when the @#$% (crap) hits the fan, I will runto thefight. Lefties will run and hide then make a thousand excuses why I caused the fight. Duso2, I commend you on your honorable service. You are part of the reason I can get up late on a peaceful saturday, go outside and put a coat of wax on my Ram and not have to look over my shoulder to see if I am going to take a stray bullet from somewhere. You are also right, the middle-east has been warring between tribes for thousands and thousands of years. Best thing we can do is to keepour enemiesoff OUR shores or eliminate them all wherever they live. Just like us, they breed and multiply.Why have we not done better in Iraq?Because war has become something that has to look pretty to those who don't have the stomach for it.War can not be won if it is pretty. We all choose to live here. What does it take for us to all be one happy team? Congress (Repub, Dem, left, right)has accomplishedNOTHING in decades. Why? It is all about hate what the other party does.We need to completely vote outALL the polititians who have become nothing more than predatory trial lawyers and put normal everyday people in there to make real decisions that affect the safety, security and longevity of our nation. Our entiregovernment is now nothing more than decades of inbreeding. New blood is what it takes. When has it been possible for the normal blue collar working American to actually run for office and win? I am proud of Bush in that he actually has beliefs and stands true to his beliefs without being a flip-flopper looking for what stance will garner the most votes towards re-election. I am not happy with all he has done but I support him because he represents our great country.

Interesting topic. I wonder how many of you voted "republican"? Not once, but twice........The economy, gas prices, and this country was in great shape when the Democrats were in office......Then came the republicans....who basically sold the country a bunch of hype.....Now look at us, it appears that we never learn.......

 

NYPANAMA, wow, you are really out of touch. Which news channel have you been watching to get that information?? The one I watch informed me last week that the stock market broke new records AGAIN. Unemployment is at an all time low of less than4%, per capita, people are making more money. You want to know why gas prices are so high? Well, youlefties are the ones whoregulated in the requirements forall the different blends of gasoline to of course clean the envoronment which I have no problem with, but when refineries shut down toswitch over to the summer blends of gas, it takes some time. Stockpiles shrink, prices rise.Youlefties are the ones who won't let any more refineries be built because they are a source of pollution and an eyesore. Yes, we are selling out our country to illegals and lefties. I agree. It appears you could learn plenty if you would just stay in touch with reality.
