Default Brake controller installation

I recently bought a 2006 1500 Megacab without the factory tow package, so I bought the OEM hitch and the wiring kit. The hitch was a simple bolt-on.

I am doing the wiring now. It is a little more involved but still pretty simple. One end plugs into the socket on the bumper. The other end hooks up to the battery then terminates with a single blue wire under the dash.

I noticed that there is an open, white connector with four male blade contacts under the dash, which I assume is for the brake controller. The question is: when installing the Prodigy brake controller, do I just plug it in with the Dodge-specific cable or do I have to hook up the blue wire or both? I am guessing that I have to hook up the blue wire, as there is no other path from the controller to the socket on the bumper as far as I can tell.
