Chrysler financing to get rebates?
Bought my 07 in february and got $10,500 in rebates plus they gave me $1500 over trade. Ended up financing $24400 on a truck that MSRP at $36,400. On the paper work they worked the dealer rebate into my trade value(addition of $5500). Then showed the chrysler rebate of $5000 seperately. Now, I don't know if I qualified for chrysler financing( at a crappy 8.25%)but I left with the truck anyway. Next thing I know, I get a payment book from Soveriegn Bank of Maryland or somewhere. I call up the dealership and say whats up and could I refinance since they didn't use Chrysler. Initially they said I had to wait 6 months to refinance. He looked at my contract and said I had no prepayment penalties and I could do whatever I wanted to. He actually said it worked out better for me. I just refinanced at 6%. It would have been 5% if I prequalified.[:@] Back to my original point. Do you really have to finance through Chrysler to get their rebate? Or, did I just prove otherwise. The add I showed the dealership said I had to us Chrysler financing. What gives?
i would think it would be less risk for them -for the customer to use
an outside source for financing--so they get their money at the
time of sale.
the thing i found out buying my truck is you cant get the 0%
financing in addition to all the rebates. the dealership do seem to
have some flexibility--but its really like pulling teeth once
you go down this road.
congrats on the new rig
your rate really isnt that bad--I remember when I was a kid
buying my 1st cars -- I got like 20% financing-ouch

I didn't have to finance with them but I was lead to believe I did until I met with the finance manager and told him I'd been pre-approved for a lower rate at my credit union. then Miraculously he was able to find the same rate "almost" it was for a shorter term though. Anyway he told me to go with my credit union.
the dealer wants you to finance throu them so thy get the sellers points or comission.. thats why if there % is to hi you can get them to lower it up to 1 point to get the sale.. most of the time they will cut it 1/4 or 1/2 point with out that much of an argument. and them telling you that they have never did this before... B S is what i tell them and thank them four the point.. money in our pocket better than theres...
Dealers want you to go thru them because if you qualify for, lets say 5% they can bump you up to 7 or 8% and make pure profit on 2 to 3%.When Iwas looking to buy I had a set amount that I was notgoing over. I called around to thedealers looking for the specific truck I was wanting and for the priceIwas wanting to be around. I finally found a dealer that had the color I wanted so I drove up there and started to barter. When I got there I told the guy " IF you can get me this truck for this priceIll set here for a minute or 2, if not I have somewhere else to be" He kinda shook his head and said I dont know if I can do that. I said well go try. He came back to me with a price and I said no thanks and my wife and I started to get up to leave, and he stopped me and said If I can get you that price will you buy today, I saidyes and the deal was done. Itold the dealer that I was gonna buy thru my credit union and he said it didnt matter to him who I went thru. I told him the rate I was getting and he said not to even worry about trying to go thru Chrysler because I wouldnt get a better rate. I still got all the rebates and incentives dodge was offering at the time

Thanks again guys. Finding this forum to be very educational. Wish I would have read it before I bought. Refinancing is a pain, but well worth the savings. I'll definately get pre-approval next time and tell the dealer to kiss my butt on the Chrysler financing. Why do they have to lie in their advertising? Dirty bastards![:@]
