I am getting a pair on chrome tubular side steps because everyone(mostly girls) is constantly bitching how big my truck is and that it is hard to get into.

I havent even taken a look at the bottom of the truck or even tried to put these on yet.... how much work is involved, what tools needed?

I ask because I want to know if I should wait to go downstate to my parents house and have all the tools/ space I need.... or if I could do it up here in the parking lot of my apartment at college.

 

Very simple with the appropriate tools. You'll need a set of metric sockets, a breaker bar if the undercarriage bolts are tight and other basic sockets and wrenches. It took me about an hour to unbolt the existing bolts, and replace with new supplied hardware. It does suggest you use a torque wrench to tighten the bolts to appropriate specs. It's a job you can do with minimal space if you can get under your truck.

 

Do you have the Mopar ones? Where are these bolts that I have to take out and replace?

also, if anyone has pictures of the mounting points that is a huge plus.

 

I'll try to get you some pics. Very simple. Did mine in about a half hour in front of my house, which entailed my truck being parked on the side of the road and me hanging out front underneath it. You could also go to Westin's page and download the PDF version of the installation procedures at http://www.westinautomotive.com/index.html. I think that Mopar bars are close to Signature Series. Click on them and then click applications. Reg. Cab and QC are the same instructions.

No pics but the bolts you need will be at the exact ends of the step bars.... they attach the frame to body to the best of my knowledge. I got them off ebay pretty cheap. They're stainless and I got them for about 190.00.

 

if your doing the mopar steps, then it wont take more then 20 min...i installed alot of these on rams while i was workin at the dealership and 99% of the time i did in the flat stall with no hoist...just need a couple sockets, a screwdriver and a ratchet and thats it for the mopar ones

 

It seems the ones I am getting are off of a 2500 will this be a problem? (I have a 1500)

Should be absolutely no difference as long as it's still for a 3rd gen. They'll fit 02 and up 1500's and 03 and up 2500/3500's
