Default 06 level kit pics....why I removed it

So I ave posted before about the issues I have had with the level kit on my 06 4wd. Here are the pics of the driveline angle with the level kit on, sitting on the ground with tires on and fully aligned. That angle on those cv joints looks crazy to me. Any body else have pics of this with a level kit to compare.....

i have an 06 also and i would like to put a leveling kit in it. I've read that you also have to use longer shocks and get an alignment with a leveling kit. Did you use longer shocks? not sure if that makes a difference

06 - 08 do not have shocks.......we have struts, and the spacer goes above the strut so there is no need for new struts. If you got new struts they would have to be same length or you would be lifting more with the spacer. Either that or you could get longer struts (if they even make them) in order to lift the truck (no spacers needed in that case) Correct me if I am wrong here, but the longer shocks are for the 05 and older with the torsion bar setup correct?

Thats what I was afraid of too! I had bad driveline vibes in 4x4 too, and you can see why. I wonder if mine is different. I was comparing mine to my buddies 07. They are both stock suspension, 1500, quad cab, big horn edition, only difference is year. Stock mine sits a full inch higher in the front. I wonder if mine sits higher to start then adding the 2.5" level kit is more like 3.5" with mine. I have no clue why it would be higher (stiffer spring maybey) what is someone elses 06-08 stoc height in the front from the ground to the center top of the front wheel well? I would like to compare. I will measure mine too.....thanks

That's crazy bro... here's mine with a HBS 2.5" leveling kit installed... nowhere near as extreme an angle as yours.

i see why you took it off, that angle is too much. measuring will tell you if that lift is too much for your truck.

you do have shocks, with coilover springs.

Feej is correct, you still have shocks.

That angle is insane and was a busted CV just waiting to happen. I have a 4" Suspension Lift and the angle on my CVs are just a hair over stock, somewhere along the lines of TXJ's pics...

when I removed my shocks/struts/springs or whatever the are. They come out as one piece, and the shock is mounted inside the spring (as in the pics) so how would you replace the shock with a longer one? Spring compressor? what would the longer shock give you? more travel? Just confused how they work. Is the como of a spring and shock like that called a strut or not?

Sorry about all the questions.

Why would my truck be so different as far as that angle goes.....the strange part about it was that when I had the 2.5" level kit on there it was level. I measured before and after and it lifted it 2.5" exactly and the front and back were within 1/4" of one another. This is really strange. I sure wish I could level my truck!
