Question Found on Rear Diff Magnet - What is it? (Pic's)

In the middle of changing my rear diff and found this on the magnet inside. Looks like some kind of clip, anyone have a clue as to what it is? I don't see any chips in the gears and no other metal fragments were found. Here's a couple different views: (I turned on the close-up mode )

Good thing for the magnet. Don't recognize that part, looks like it is designed to hold something, is your diff an LSD. If you have quick access to the Dodge service manual maybe can narrow down its location origin?

yep, that's the clutch pack retainer that everyone mistakenly calls the c-clip.
There should be another one in there somewhere as well. Those can severly ruin your day..ohh, and your differential.

and the detail in that dime..nice camera...lol

The clutch pack retainers are W shaped...FYI
c-clips are, well, c-shaped...lol

All the Ram years had options for LSD, whether they came standard on any trim package, I haven't a clue.

Yep, mine on my LSD were broken off also. Flush everything our really good and see if you can pull the others out.

pull 'em all out, many have run without them.

do a search for "C-Clip", hell Google would prolly show a gajillion hits. Even though 'Dog is right, it's commonly referred to as a C-Clip.

Hell, you might as well run open, the stock LSD is only marginally better than that when operating to it's full potential anyway.

Get you a nice Auburn or DTT in there if you want a real LSD...
