New to forum, suggestions, help with my ram
Have a '05 Ram with 75,000 miles on it.My engine light came on w/code p0306(cylinder6 misfire)
Purchased it used, but, also got an MPP(Mechanical Protection Plan) so I thought OK ,lets put it use and get my moneys worth.Dealer diagnosis is no compression in #6 cylinder due to carbon buildup on intake valve.MPP people were trying to blame on poor maintainence and went to great lengths NOT to cover it
After fighting with them for 2 weeks they finally agreed to have the head serviced.Dodge really did not want to perform this repair, stating that i will probably be back to have it serviced again for the same issue, instead insisting that I replace BOTH heads at a cost of 3grand
.MPP will cover reconditioning of the head rather than replacement.Any advice suggestions, comments???

If all you have is carbon build up then hot tank them and maybe do a valve job and slap them back on. Worse case, buy used heads for less than 300, drop them off to the shop to let them rebuild them and slap them on.
You likely got carbon build up from using low grade fuel like 87 octane. You can go ahead and admit it. We know.

I severely doubt heads were redesigned. Youve got 75k on it and been good this far. Do you plan on keeping it another 75K or more? If not then rebuild the heads and keep going. If it were me and even if I was going to keep it for 75k+ I would rebuild the heads, give the finger to the dealership and keep going.
At 3 grand you should be able to buy a new engine.
You should ALWAYS use fuel injection cleaner and ANY fuel. Use it every so many thousand miles. I know you have seen the commercials on TV.
