I have a 5.7 '04 Ram, and I have noticed that I don't have posi traction. Is this true for all ram?

Its an option.

collisiondaddy, you can check by holding the brake and accel. at the same time. Light them up and them go back and check the pavement to see if one or both tires spun.[sm=icon_rock.gif] Or you could look on your window sticker if you still have it.

My right tire is the only one spinning. I thought a performance truck would have it. Is there any way to add it at a small cost? Is it really worth it?

Actually Dodge doesn't refer to it as posi-track but Anti-Spin Differential Rear Axle, an option offered for $285.00. My 2004 Ram had it but my 2006 does not. Because I don't do a lot of towing I hardly notice a difference.

What I do remember is on the 2004 when the roads were wet, taking off from a stop no matter how gentle on the accelerator both rear tires would spin. It was an art taking off in damp situations without spinning the the rear wheels.

In my new HEMI I can't blame the lack of a Anti-Spin Differential Rear Axle for not spinning in wet weather. For 2006 Dodge mellowed the accelerator a bit to prevent this from happening and thus far, I'm happy with their decision.

The only drawback I see with having the Anti-Spin Differential Rear Axle is the requirement for a special additive to the differential synthetic oil when it's due for change every 15,000 miles. (How ridiculous). That's one area where Ford and Chevy had their heads on straight. They don’t require changing the fluid for 100,000 miles.

Being at the ripe age of 48 I can say I’ve owned more than my fair share of Dodge, Chevy and Ford trucks. At the current time I prefer the Dodge trucks hands-down over Ford and Chevy, however that being said I also claim the Ram is the most high-maintenance truck between the big three. This is because of the lower maintenance intervals called out in the owners manual i.e. fluid changes, spark plug changes, capacities, etc.

H.H.

Why don't you look at the options slip pasted to the inside of your glove compartment? My 2005 and my brother-in-laws 2000 Rams have a small slip of paper pasted to the the wall of the glove compartment that lists the major options including paint trim codes. If you have "anti-spin," it'll be listed as an option.

btw, the anti spin rox for taking off fast, or for burning out, more traction or, it looks better due to 2 wheels spinning rubber

"Posi Traction" is a GM term. Dodge call it "Anti-Spin Differential Rear Axle". It was an option.
