WARNING!!!! I had the RRT on the bolts done at the dealer when I was in doing some service (I'd never complained about it, they just did it) and then about 12,000 miles later the bolts broke on the passenger side and they had to tap new threads (which I am not happy about). This of course had me wondering about the fix. Well, just last month while on vacation out 1000 miles from home, the drivers side broke - WTF?. So I had to alter my vacation, find a dealer in the middle of nowhere Idaho and get it fixed.

At least it was covered under my lifetime power train warranty.

Pedro,

Sorry to hear the issue you had with the exhaust bolts. The RRT's are done automatically by the dealer whenever the customer comes in for service and are supposed to prevent what eventually happened to you. If you want to PM me your Vin I would like to take a closer look at what happened with your vehicle.

Thanks DodgeCares, let's just do this in the open so that others may learn from this, especially the second owners of 2009 vehicles without the lifetime power-train warranty.

Another thing, the dealer in Idaho screwed up the installation of the oil dipstick when they repaired the broken bolt. I had to make an additional trip to my dealer when I returned from vacation.

Pedro,

I applaud your willingness to be open about this issue on a public forum. I cannot, however, discuss your case on a public forum once I have your personal info. I will send you a PM. Whatever you choose to disclose is up to you.

So I got my 2009 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT Crew Cab back from the shop last saturday and low and behold more problems AHHH!!! My blendor doors in the heating / cooling system are acting up. A loud popping sound is occurring intermittenly. I noticed this and did more investigating, fuses were fine... then i started turning the dial to move the air flow from face, to floor, to vent etc. and noticed there was no air flow on my face when the dial was pointed to "face". I called up Chrysler headquarters: "Recall" and they stated there is an open recall for the HVAC (Heating, Vent and Air Conditioning) the blend doors break causing problems which mine has. Turns out in my Carfax report, (I am the 2nd owner) this HVAC was worked on in 2009 and 9/17/2010. The Recall person said to call up the dealer and get this fixed free of charge. Glad it is covered, but such a pain- I Hope this is the last problem I have w/ my Truck. I love it, but have been so mad about the problems I have been dealing with.

JM,

There were two different recalls on the HVAC which may create a problem. I am posting them below in case others are unaware of them. I hope that having the recalled completed will solve your problems once and for all.

Customer Satisfaction Notification K17

Reprogram HVAC Control Head and Inspect/Replace
Actuators
2009-2010 (DS) Ram Truck (1500 series)
2010 (DJ) Ram Truck (2500 series)
2010 (D2) Ram Truck (3500 series)
NOTE: This recall applies only to the above vehicles built through May 22, 2010
(MDH 052220).
The HVAC mode door actuator gears on about 225,000 of the above vehicles may
break and result in the inability to fully control the HVAC functions.

Safety Recall J12

Reprogram HVAC Control Head Module
2009 (DS) Dodge Truck (1500 Series)
NOTE: This recall applies only to the above vehicles equipped with a manual
temperature control Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) system (sales
code HAA) built through December 19, 2008 (MDH 121906).
IMPORTANT: Many of the vehicles within the above build period have already
been inspected or repaired and, therefore, have been excluded from this recall.
The HVAC Control Head Module on about 36,700 of the above vehicles may have
an inoperative mode door. This can result in an inability to activate the defrost
mode and reduce visibility through the windshield. Lack of the defrost mode could
cause a crash under certain driving conditions.

Can you please post some info on RRT 10-036? I believe it's the one that has to do with the driver's rear sitting lower than the passenger side.
