Nothing other then 3000 even when good conventional oil is used is a waste of oil.

Dear all,

I brought my 2009 2 doors to Egypt, they don't provide 5W-20 here in Egypt, so I investigated further and Chrysler approves 5W-30.
I had to use it and the MDS is working fine till now, worth mentioning that I use the vehicle for off road racing, heavy off road racing.

I have been using 5w30 AMSoil 100% synthetic in my 09 Ram along with the Mopar Filter. My manual also says that the 5w30 is acceptable with the 5.7L hemi's but now that i think about it I'm worried. I have 23000km (14000m) on my ram and have been running 5w30 for about 15000km now (9500m). Doing this won't be detrimental to my Engine will it?

I've noticed my fuel mileage hasn't been as good as it first was but i know my MDS is still activating one highway and in town, and it's still running at a good operating temperature, no knocking or nothing the engine still runs great!

Andi, Amsoil makes a 0w20, why not just use that, or anyone else's, for that matter? You get the correct viscosity that Dodge calls out for operating temperatures, and the "0w" part is really meaningless outside of the subject of cold starts.

Why waste a EXTENDED drain oil like Amsoils 0w20 or 5w30 that can go a minimum of 15k when the manufacture also calls for 6k or 6 month oil changes.(that is the requirement of the lifetime power-train warranty)That fits Amsoils 5w20 XL series. If going to go 15k on oil then use the other Amsoil oil.

Here's a little advice I took from my dad. Oil and oil filters are cheap. Engines are expensive. Change the oil every 3000 miles. I have tried the synthetic method of changing the oil every 6000 miles and the filter every 3000 miles and after about 60,000 miles, the engine was filthy. When I converted over to conventional oil, it took 2, back-to-back zero mile oil changes and the small addition of ATF to get all the dirt out of the engine. Now I change the oil (conventional) every 3000 miles and the engine stays clean. True, the sythetic may have better viscosity life, but it gets dirty just as fast as conventional oil. Just my two cents.

My little display just started telling me to change my oil. I have under 4000 KM (supposed to change it at 6000 KM) on my truck and another month to go before I'm due. I haven't done any towing yet, so I'm thinking it may be going by engine hours, since I have to let it warm up for a while during the frigid winters here...

Anyways, my maintenance service schedule also says to rotate tires, lubricate the front drive shaft fitting (4x4), and lubricate the outer tie rod ends. Do you do this?

I meant 12,000 KM.

I think I'm gonna get Mobil 1 Synthetic. $102 + taxes & enviro fee to get it changed.
