Default Which to buy? Magnaflow muffler or Mufflex exhaust.

Wanting to buy some type of exhaust for my '10 ram 1500 sport. I am looking at buying a universal 18in magnaflow muffler and getting it welded in and adding however much extra pipe I will need. Or buying the mufflex DOD 18M and once installed putting a few welds on that to hold in place. Seems the easiest would be the mufflex system. Are they the exact same? What do you guys recommend that have done either of these to your trucks? Also with the universal 18in magnaflow muffler what size are the inlets/outlets? 3" in/ 2 1/2" out? Thanks.

Mufflex is awesome for a DIY kit, took me 30 min to install mine. I would just go with the clamps as there is no need to weld it in place and it makes for easy removal in the future!
You may want to read some of the posts about the 18 as many have said they think it is to quiet.

Good luck!!

do the mufflex. just cut another slit on other side of the ones it comes with for the inlet and outlet. The width of two jigsaw blades is perfect. That way, you can easily tighten and it crimps real good with no leak and no need to crank it on. It will only take you 1/2 hour to install yourself ( a helper is great to make sure the tails do not bang around during the swap ). No need to weld or deal with an exhaust shop for this mod. 14" isn't all that bad once you get used to it, 18" would have been ok for me as well.

Mufflex are expensive and a ton of people on here have had problems with them leaking, me included. Save yourself some cash and headache and just get a muffler welded on by your local shop.

I bought the 14 and love it, as the others have said I had leaks on the back side. I made two extra cuts on the front and it tightend up great. I moved my back clamps and it seemed to clear up the leaks, basicly you need to figure how much time and money you want to spend and also maybe a you could spend a little one on one time with your truck on the underside and get familiar.
Here is a video I just posted the other day of mine.

I have the Mufflex 24 and I brough it to a shop to have it put on(I didn't feel like crawling under the truck and doing this job, guess I'm getting old!). To many people on here have had issues with them leaking and falling off and I do not have the time for that either. The mechanic still had to cut a pipe to get the muffler to fit properly and told me that I could have bought the same Magnaflow muffler and he could have installed it and save me $100 dollars. Im my opinion I would do the Magnaflow kit in the future. For all of those that say just clamp it on so you can take it off in the future, come on who really takes there muffler off when they trade in there truck? Maybe one or two but most of us get a newr model truck or something a little different and want something different. Also IMO the Mufflex is overpriced if your going to have someone else put it on. Just my two cents!
