Anyway, in all my calls and effort there will be no buy back as per Chrysler policy. ALL service reps, tech nicians and managers said off the record that MDS is horrible. On the record, thye all say not ideal but necessary mor mileage and as per design.
Of note however, they did conceed to make 3 of my car payments as a "gesture of goodwill" for all the problems I have had with this truck (at only 6K miles). Our best bet is collective effort. Everyone who hates it needs to call Chrysler supprt and formally file claim AND contact each of your area service reps and give them hell alos. Only in this way will they know at a top level we arent just going to not voice our opionion. Even my service manager said :they will just give you the run around locally until you go away." Area service reps have to be bothered and formal complaints made to Chrysler Direct. Otherwise, the local delaers are told to take the heat and keep reporting "as per design, nothing we can do." Much like health insurance agents are told to try and not pay claims. Its just how it goes. HOWEVER, we can speak up and make record. Maybe they will find a program fix.
One thing is for sure, they wont do aything if custoemrs dont make noise and, at least, voice their opinion.
Why don't you have them pay the payments to principal? You will get more out of it in the long run.Originally Posted by a_gunslinger

They dont do buy backs because it costs them WAY too much money. Easier for them to give long warranties but never be able address issue by cliaming its "as per design."Anyway, in all my calls and effort there will be no buy back as per Chrysler policy. Did they offer you teh long warranty also? If so just keep it and drive the **** out of it until the warranty is up then get rid of it.

I've had 2 Jeep SUV's with the Hemi w/MDS. I've never noticed this issue, and the MDS works as designed.....on the highway. In town, the exhaust sounds terrible.
My GMC has "AFM" which is the GM version of MDS. At 75 with any tailwind or slight downhill grade, it stays in AFM, and gets over 25mpg. This is rare in my neck of the woods, but the Commander rarely does the same. I think ChryCo needs to send an engineer to GM on the down-low, and figure out how to fine tune this to make it work. I had a company Chevy that worked just as well. Their system kicks in cruising around town, and with factory exhaust, you'd never know what mode it is in without the indicator. With my magnaflow, its a different tune all together......

I have a 2010 with 13,000 miles on it. I just paid the truck off and im going to sell it. The vibration and noise at 40 mph is just pathetic. Dodge really made a piece of junk. The best thing to do is sell it and im going ford or chevy. I bought a superchip to disable mds so i can sell it. Worst truck i've ever had by far !

Record Breaker
I guess I have to save the same thing. My truck drives great.MDS is seamless. If it wasn't for the Magnaflow muffler I'd hardy have a clue when it cuts in and out.My truck towed my fifth wheel a 1000 miles through Florida getting 12 plus mpg.Other then a updated flash and one little green light I've had no issues in 24k.Plus it runs like a a Roadrunner of yesteryear.

That's great mpg. When I bought my bumper pull trailer I was talking to one of the drivers that transports trailers across the country and he claimed to get much better mpg with the 5th wheels than bumper pulls. His conclusion was that the "over the bed" cabin of the 5th wheel reduced wind resistance.Originally Posted by hounddogg

I just started my pursuit of Chrysler and this vibration problem. I have a 2010 Big Horn. Most of my driving is on local roads so I feel the vibration all the time at 45 to 50 mph. CSR at Chrysler says the DM signed off on the CAIR and said it was normal operation. I have escalated the case to their buyback dept. I know it will be a long road. I am persistent and will stay the course. No way I am going to accept this vibration after spending over 30 grand for a new vehicle. Yes I could drive it in 5th or engage the tow/haul circuit. All that is is a bandaid for the problem. Chrysler needs to address the problem and produce a fix. I dont recall reading anything about MDS vibration in the sales brochure or in the owners manual. This will be a long road!Originally Posted by a_gunslinger

Thank you ! I agree. It didnt say in my brochure that between 30-45 mph your trucks will vibrates and run like crap cause of our mds engine. This is unacceptable and false advertising. You cant just say its normal if its not in the brochure or manual. Im going to persue the buyback as well. No way they can win this in court.
I am really surprised on how many people on this forum thinks its o.k. to spend 30 thousand on a truck and say the vibration is no big deal. Like i said, i dont put in plumbing and have it leak and just tell my customer, you only paid 6 grand, its normal.
