Good Luck. You will need it. Have you gotten a private mechanic to document the issue yet?

Sorry to butt into this thread on the tail end. My truck has never had a noticeable issue, and I can't tell at all when it kicks in or out of MDS mode.

But my truck only has about 6k miles on it. Has anyone has this happen (or worsen) as the mileage builds up? Or is it something that is there from the beginning and doesn't change?

Thanks. And good luck to everyone who does have the problem.

I am too like you never had a sound and at 14000km's which I guess would be almost 9000 miles,if I were you I would not think about it.

One of the lucky ones 09 early build, 14K miles. No issues with mds. I still can't tell the majority of the time when its in or out of mds. Its seemless, no vibrations, no hard shifts. Like 72combo, just the normal rrt and what recalls the truck needed.

I did drive a 09 Laramie addition that had the gas petal vibration during the test drive. We didn't buy that one. Good luck for those that have the issue. Hope a solution is found.

Is this MDS drone still present on the 2011's or have they fixed the problem. Other forums just say the MDS issue is a sound but this forum is reporting it as a vibration. Which is it?

It depends how how good of an ear you have. The lower pitched exhaust note when the MDS is operating seems more noticable in cold temperatures.
The resulting sound could be interpreted as a vibration.

For me it is not so much a sound as it is a vibration. In ECO mode the drivetrain will vibrate as if you are driving stick and in 4th gear, you have slowed down but did not downshift to 3rd. Now you have accelerated and you feel the vibration in the steering wheel and the seat of your pants. Once you have reached 50 mph or so the vibration goes away. Slow down to around 40 mph the accelerate and it will do it all over again. Most of my driving is within this range so I have to deal with it all the time. Now I mostly drive with the shifter in 5th to cancel the MDS program. Although this will eliminate the problem, it is merely a bandaid. It's a shame that this situation has become my total user experience. If I would have known this may have happened I would have taken my 36 grand and spent it somewhere else. I hope someone from Chrysler is listening, all we want is this situation addressed and taken care of. We dont want blanket statements that this is a normal occurrence. If it were normal and if everyone was on board with it, when I test drove the vehicle and sat with my salesman he would have pointed it out.

I currently have an open case with the business office to discuss the possiblity of getting out of this vehicle by Lemon Law or some other solution. I know this will be a long road and I doubt they will ever buy back the vehicle. However if you don't speak up about this problem, it will never be resolved.

The 'driving in a gear too high' analogy is a good one to describe what I observe related to this problem. It definitely seems like the combo of engine RPM and transmission gear settings are incompatible with the vehicle speed.

Im curious asto what octane gas everyone is using. Not that this will fix the problem but the truck os rated for 89 and 87 is ok. Maybe going to a higher octane would decrease the mds drone sound/vibration. If I run 87 in a high performance smaller 4 cylinder engine it does the very same thing
