Default rotten egg smell

Hey everyone,i'm a new owner of a 2010 laramie. In the last couple of weeks i have noticed a bad smell from the truck at highway speeds,it smells like rotten eggs. The truck has only 6000 kms on it,and it only gets driven on weekends and i've owned it since May this year.So i was wondering if anyone has had this problem before?

That smell can also come from an exhaust leak pre catalytic converter(s)

I would start by getting the charging system checked out first as that's what dodgetrucker was slightly hinting at. These trucks are WAY too new to have a cat plug up on them. Besides, with the computer control that these trucks have, I would imagine that it would be firing a CEL already if it were the case.

If you want to check for an exhaust leak, I would go to the parts store and pick up a can of seafoam and run it through the intake. Instructions are on the can and it is fairly straight forward. When you do that and let it sit and then fire it back up, the exhaust will start blowing out white smoke as part of the cleaning process. If you have a leak under the truck, you will know about it quickly.

I still think that you have a charging issue personally though. Maybe the alt is pushing more power to the battery than it needs, OR the battery has bit the dust and a cell has gone bad which will cause the battery to heat up producing that smell. Then again, I would also suspect that these trucks have a battery temperature sensor in the holder for the battery itself. Another thing that would fire a CEL...

Default Me too....

Hey there ..was wondering if it was the burning of ur battery. I just encountered the same problem.. Steam was coming out of the battery n smelt aweful. Added water was OK till later tonight when I tried to start it, it wouldn't...boosted it n ran it for about 20mins to charge battery...steamed again. Solution....new battery?? Why did it burn n how do I prevent it from happening to a new battery?
