Cool Gas Mileage

I am tired of trying to figure out which out of all of the gas saving products is legit or just a hoax. I was wondering if there were anyone out there driving the latest Dodge ram that actually got gains in gas mileage, if so what did you use?

Cruise control and slow starts, other than that save your money.

I am with JRI take it easy on the gas peddle pounding at the stop signs and keep a good even speed on the highway. Currently I have been getting about 16.5 around town and 20 ish on the highway with 87 octane. Higher octane gas doesn't seem to give me any better numbers. Haven't herd of anyone gaining a whole bunch of mileage from any of these super-chips or programmers.

Driving habits/style are by far the biggest factor. Keeping maintenance up would be the next closest thing. The only thing that pops in my head for bolt-on type gas savings would be using a Zietronix to raise your AFR's in closed loop (running 15-17:1 instead of 14.7:1) You'd want to monitor the wideband, EGT's, and plugs. I certainly wouldn't recommend it for the unexperienced tuner or as a "set it and forget it" method.

Hey it's a big truck, take your foot off the gas early, coast in to the lights, they might go green!

Driving habit and regular maintenance have a large impact on mileage, but there's a product that I've been using for a while called Lucas Fuel Treatment. Compared to before using it and after, I do notice a noticeable increase in the miles driven per tank.
