Mopar stirrup steps
i've got the stirrup steps on my RCSB. They do the job okay. They flex a little under my weight of 225 pounds, but they work well enough. Being just a stirrup they aren't as convenient as a full length step or nerf bar, but the price was hard to beat.
I got mine at http://www.stevewhiteparts.com

Like others, I didn't need full length nerf bars and like the smaller visual footprint much better.
As I see it, they install onto the under body portion of the rocker panels. Come on, that is nothing more than sheet metal and there isn't even a stiffener backing plate or something like that. What were they thinking? My thoughts are that after some time, the flexing will cause metal fatigue and crack the body material. Even if that doesn't happen, you don't feel good putting any weight on them and that is the whole point, putting your weight on them to step up into the cab.
The solution is rather simple, they could include a metal backing plate that runs the length to the other installation points where the nerf bars would be installed. That way the load of stepping on the stirrups would be spread out and it wouldn't matter how heavy the person was. Of course that would increase the cost but it isn't like the money they charge right now is cheap for two stirrups.
I can only imagine what would happen if someone weighing more than 200 pounds tried to use them. Once bent, the underside of the rocker panels are damaged.
What a shame since everything else about a Dodge Ram speaks of strength and rock solid feel.
