Smile Potential RAM owner, ??'s regarding Rear LSD and 3.92 vs 3.55

I am looking at 2011Ram 1500 Big Horns and am specifically looking at two right now, one of which has the Anti-Spin Rear Axle Differential and the other does not. My wife has a horse and we will be towing it occasionally although not frequently. Does anyone have any information on how beneficial or detrimental that Anti-Spin Rear Axle Differential is to towing capability, as well as the 3.55 vs. the 3.92? Any insight at all would be helpful, thanks for your time!

Get the 3.92. It's preferred over 3.55. Not much if any mpg difference but toes better.

Still wondering... it shows both the 3.55 and the 3.92 with the LSD option on the website... Is it now an option for us guys with the 3.55 for an upgrade, without re-gearing...???

If i`m not mistaken, you can add the LSD unit and still use your stock 3.55 gears

LU, i already own the truck :P... 3.55 with LSD was not an option when i bought the truck, nor did the dealer offer any 'mopar approved' option. But now it's on the website, can I go harass my dealer now? lol

yeah lemme know how that works out for ya bro, then if it does work out, i`ll go rattle MY dealers cage...hehehehe.
My buddie just bought a 2011 with LSD & 3.92 gears, wished now i had done the same when i bought my 2010. What a difference his truck is over mine. Mine is just the open gear 3.55 and you`re right..!.. we didnt have the option in 09, 10, now they have it as an option.
rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

I did do some research, and it looks like we can buy just the LSD unit and re-set the rear end up with the same gears that came out of it.
That sure beats the hell out of buying everything like some end up doing...!

Ya, as far as traction is concerned, with the weight distribution in these trucks, and the power, traction is almost zero in any icy conditions. As far as speed/acceleration, I'd rather the 3.55's, as it'll save my tires. I have a heavy foot, and this way I'll burn them less. It's not like the truck is SLOW now, hahaha... It still keeps up with most of what I throw at it...

Yes much rather get the LSD for the rear, than having to re-gear front/rear PLUS the LSD. If the dealer scratches their head, I'll just go get what we've been puting in our work trucks. Detroit TruTrac, LOVE THAT SYSTEM. I still got lots of warranty left, that's why I haven't done the Detroit route yet...

Either way, I'll let ya know
