Default Hate my Dealership

So, I took my truck in for rrt work and an oil change on wednesday. I left it at the dealership for a few days.

First thing is, they refused to give me a ride home. They said it was too far. So, that ticked me off.

So, I picked up the Truck last night, It was kind of dark to see anything. So, I couldn't properly inspect the vehicle.

I just washed my truck and started clay barring it. I notice a smudge. Then I quickly try to clean it and discover its a scratch about 2.5 inches long. I then begin to inspect my Truck more thuroughly and find a huge indentation near the scratch. These are by the rear passenger door. This is a nightmare I inspect my truck once a week and it certainly was not there before. I have pictures to prove it from a few days before.

I also noticed the lack of care they provide to their customers. They parked my truck in a small space surrounded by cars, the hits were obviously hits from doors.

I never park close, I always park as far away from traffic on the lonley side of every parking lot (Work and School).

I also caught one of their service men writing on the hood of my truck, which really got my blood pumping. I was so ticked off.

So, this damage it definitely their fault, I haven't driven it anywhere. Its just been in my drive way.

How should I approach this and what will the dealerships response be?

Good luck. If they won't give you a ride you think they will honour that damage? Man I am so glad my dealership is not like that, and I didn't even buy the truck there. They replaced my running boards that were installed improperly by the dealer I bought when one fell off. They are so much sturdier now.

I spoke to a buddy of mine that had a similar problem with his F-150 at a ford dealership. He explained the process and what happened. HOpefully It works out.

The Dealership is "Glenn E. Thomas Dodge" in long beach / Signal Hill. Their sales people are prone to using Thirty Thousand dollars worth of equipment as clip boards. They did it to my truck and they did it to the truck I was going to buy about one month ago.

I hate to say it, but once you're off the lot you have no way to prove it. I would talk to the service manager in a calm demeanor and if that gets you nowhere, go higher up at the dealer. The squeaky wheel gets the grease. If needed, write a complaint to the district rep and Dodge. If there are enough complaints, maybe they will help you out.. Good luck.

not to change the subject of this thread, but I don't go to the dealershiop for anything unless I have too. If I can research a service manual and afford the tools I will do it all myself. Long story short, while installing my leveling kit I damaged the rubber boot on the ball joint of the upper control arm. This requires replacing the upper control arm.

A new upper control arm from the dealership was about 160.00. and required 4 hours labbor. all together would have costed 450 to 500 bucks, parts and labor.

I got the part online for 120.00 took me lerss than 30 min to jack up the truck remove the wheel remove the upper control arm and put the new one on , wheel back on lower truck. I saved a few hundred dollars did it in a shortter amount of time. and I have no scrathes or dents.

I do a walk around with the service advisor every time I take it in. One dealer I use is small. 3 techs. The other has 16. I do a walk around at the small one also.

Not everyone has the skill or health to do what you do with maintenance and reparis. It is great you can.
(on a side note, yes dealerships charge a lot for labor. IMO, it is in line with many trades. If you can''t do your own plumbing, electrical of HVAC repairs, check out the rates. Pretty high).
