Best Oil and Filter for 2011 Longhorn
I know a few women G.M. cars with 150k plus on Jiffy lube and going by OLM. None use oil, none are sludged.None have had oil releatd engine issues. But they do follow the OLM and never go past it. Heck they never know how many miles between service. They just do it when it says.
Hers a scientific way to figure that question out.http://neptune.spacebears.com/cars/s.../interval.html
I buy all my dino oil on sale in the $2 qt range. Mobil, Pensoil, Valvoline, Quaker State or Castrol. Purolater or Wix filter. I change it myself every 3k to 4k miles. $20 to do an oil change. It has worked fine for me for over 20 years and my last 04 Durango had over 130k when sold and used almost no oil between changes. I average over 20k miles and pull 3k - 8k lb trailers over 6k miles a yr.

I agree! The most important factor is to change it at the correct reccomended interval, and use a quality filter.....All oils have to meet the same current spec anyway.Use what you like best!!!!!!Also make sure it meets MS6395.....
'lots has changed in 20years"....
One would think so right?
So why is it that in the US the US car manufacturers and even the Japanese and European car manufacturers are encouraging us to change oil every 3k, just like 20-30-40yrs ago...
A lot of the Japanese and European cars sold in Europe have recommended oil change cycles of 10k miles.
Could it be that we are brainwashed and that the manufacturers are deliberately using scare tactics so that we go back to them for oil so that they can find more things to work on?
Just food for thought! A buddy of mine ran his truck on the same oil and filter for 20k and put 160k on his truck without a single problem

They don't and haven't in years. Where you been? Jiffy lube which is reported to be the LAST hold out recently conceded to 5000 mile oil and filter changes. 5000 which now is considered short.
