Its easy. Just line your truck up with something that's the same height, preferably rock solid like some steel security ballards that come out of the ground and hit it. Tada, its off, just like that. FML

Had to replace mine a year ago when the original just vanished in a big water hole. Didn't think I'd hit anything in there but I wasn't stopping in the middle to check. Lesson learned. $100 gone.

I gets worse. As hard as I hit the bollards I knew there had to be more damage. Damn, plenty of it. Bent my frame. Bollard went into the cross member and tweaked everything backwards. now my tires rub just backing out of my drive way. $1200 if they can even bend it back into shape. if not the whole frame has to be replaced.

Don't try this at home.

Ouch! When we first had security plates installed at our base, back when I was still in, they sent around a few pics of people hitting them at other bases. These plates are a massive solid chunk of what looks to be 5 to 8 inch metal and come shooting out of the ground to form a nice 45 deg angle. The pic I remember was of a Ford Ranger. Its engine was just about past the cab (regular cab) and into the bed. The metal plate looked like it was still hungry.

Exact reason I have a camera in the center of mine and it comes on at 8mpg like when pulling into parking spots.

Could not even tow my boat this weekend because the weight cased the front tires to rub the corner of my fenders. Fortunately everyone I know has trucks so I was still able to salvage a day on the lake.

Dropped my truck off at the body shop this morning. Cross your fingers for me that they can fix it. I love my truck more then any vehicle ive ever owned.

Just want everything back to normal.

Sorry to hear of the problem. So, how did you end up hitting the bollards?

Miscommunication with the guard at my office. Thought he waved me through but I guess he didn't :|. Bollards were still a couple feet out of the ground and I clipped them on my cross member when I drove through.

The good news is the body shop called yesterday and said the fixed the frame and got it within 1mm of factory specs. he said 1mm is no issue as many trucks come off the line 3mm off of spec. Should get it back today all realigned and ready to go.
