Take it for a good long drive. Keep the radio off and listen to the engine. It's new enough that it shouldn't have problems but better safe than sorry. Just basically make sure everything works to your liking. Remember you are buying the truck you can dictate the terms of the sale to some extent. If you want a tonneau cover with the truck, and it doesn't have one tell your salesman you aren't driving off with it unless they throw one in. You'd be surprised what you can get away with, that is assuming you are buying it from a dealer of course and financing it for that matter.

awesome ... you'll love it.
On early 09 trucks there was no fuel saver light. there was a flash to the computer which would add it to most trucks, but it never worked to add the light on mine, which is a very early 09 built i believe aug of 08.
you can kinda feel when it kicks in and out, but i find it to be pretty seamless. those who do mufflers claim you can hear it when its in MDS 4 cyl mode.
awesome with the 3.92 ... only thing i really wish i had on my truck.

Engine oil & filter (i`ve had the best luck with valvoline syn-power & factory oil filter, change every 5,000)
Change the gear lubes in BOTH differentials (use valvoline synthetic)
Check the trans fluid condition and level. (Was the truck used to tow...? Better to be safe than sorry, check it)
