It's been done - even on 1500s, but the only way it's cheaper than trading in on a diesel is if you have full access to a shop, can do all the work yourself including fabrications (re-enforcements for the frame, etc.) and have a full donor truck that you can pick up for nothing or next to nothing. Most guys who do this swap do it as a project/hobby and expect to sink some real cash into it.

BTW: Low Sulfur diesel hit $4.39 in my area this weekend and looks to continue to climb...

4.39..... Ouch.

There's a sweet company in Montana (if i remember correctly) who converts f-250's to run on the Cummins, i will say its a sweet setup, videos all over you tube.

4.39/gal.. I wish...
$1.25/L up here x 4 = $5/gal...

F'n stupid. Its a by-product of oil-refining... It should be about 40-50c/L... max.

A guy I went to high school with is now a lab rat at Exxon (or at least was last I talked to him 6 or 7 years ago) and he told me once that the cost to produce diesel at the refinery level was about 40% the cost to produce gasoline. So based on that diesel should be about a buck and a half a gallon...

Yeah they really are getting away with highway robbery. Diesel prices are what keep me from really wanting to get one. I mean Diesels are freaking awesome but $4+ a gallon is ridiculous.
