A couple things that surprise A couple things that surprise me, is even though I drive extremely gently I'm still is even though I drive extremely gently I'm still getting an oil change light at about 3400 miles. And when the temperature drops my mileage drops probably close to 10 percent. What rear end do you have in yours?

Default 2012 2500 hemi

I have the 3:73's and I'm not heavy on the pedal(yet) because I want to break it in some more. It is winter here in bc Canada right now and the truck is still new but I sure hope it improves. just dropped it off at dealer I'll know more by tommorow.

Worcheshire,

Welcome to the Dodge Forum and congratulations on your new truck. Let us know how it goes at the dealer, this time of year with the cold weather and low tire pressure fuel consumption probably isn't the greatest, and more likely on a new vehicle that's in a break-in period. However, I am happy to hear you are taking it to the dealer if you are having concerns.

Keep us posted on the outcome and let me know if there is any additional assistance or inquiries you have.

Can't wait to see some pics!

I have put in a leveling kit and a bit bigger tires but there's no way I should be getting that bad mpg!!! I'm taking it in to the dealer today but curious to what other 2500 hemi's are getting. thanx, and nice trucks by the way.
I still get 14 ish empty, 10-10.5 towing hand calculated. A bit worse in the winter though. But as mentioned above, terrain and fuel does make a difference.

How did you adjust the speedo after the tire size change? If the tires are larger and you didn't do this, your numbers will be low. Speed and miles traveled will read less than they actually are. How big and what kind of tires did you switch to?

Also, have you reset the mpg on the dash? Being the truck is new and it is cold outside (here at least it is), the truck may have a lot of idling time on it which will also make it read low.

Lastly, if you have the tire size adjusted, try to hand calculate your mileage. You kinda have to average over several tanks though as the fill may not be exactly the same each time.

so dealer said there's nothing wrong. I probably should give it some more time and do the mileage calculation myself for the first 5000 km or so, also try some better fuel. I'm not sure if they actually reset my gauges when I got the lift and tires on but the tires I put on are the firestone destination a/t 315/70/17. thanx for your help and I'll keep in touch.

The first thing I would do is check to see if your speedo is correct. Use a GPS or the km/mile markers on the side of the road and see if it is accurate. Those tires are almost 3" taller than stock. Not sure how the dealer would of changed your speedo to be correct since I believe a 285/70/17 tire is the largest they can select., same as on a Powerwagon. Could be wrong though.

The taller tires lead to an error of about 9% which is quite a bit. That would throw everything off. Coupled with being large and heavy tires, your MPGs will look really bad. Bet the truck looks good though. Post a few pictures of it when you get a chance.

Another consideration is that sounds as if you are in Canada. So your gallon is different than ours. We also use miles, you kms. How does your truck display the fuel economy? KmPG?
