2012 Ram 2500 5.7
I have been all over the net looking for information on this truck. There is not much info on it. so I will try to use this thread to gather information.
On March 8th 2012 I bought a 2012 2500 Gas 5.7 (That should cover some search terms) it is a 4X4 crew cab with 4.10's. I have the SLT Big Horn package and a short bed. Other options 430 radio with steering wheel controls and 10 speakers, lighted tow mirrors, back up camera and sensors, plow prep, 4 lens headlights, auto lights and mirrors and bucket seats.
This truck replaces an 05 1500 hemi Big Horn QC 4X4 with 3.92's and 20" tires. it had 94000 miles when I traded it in.
Both trucks are used as a daily driver and to tow the family camper. The camper I towed with the 05 was 5900# and our new camper is 7700#, both are loaded weights. When towing the camper the bed is loaded with firewood.
All of my mileage can be tracked here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/...2hqWERvYXhUTHc
I want to keep this thread only about gas 2500's. I would like to know what others think about CAI, exhaust, toneau covers, cheap mods or tricks, and what mileage you are seeing. If you give mileage information please include drivetrain information gears and ethanol %.
I will try to update as things progress and when towing season gets going.
I will throw on a picture when I figure it out.

ive got a 2010 here. i threw an airaid cai intake right away, and honestly, i think about throwing the stock intake back in there all the time.
if your worried about mpgs, just bend over now.
myth busters did a whole show on trucks with the tailgate down, etc etc, and it doesnt matter.
best thing you can do is leave the truck stock, its the best mpgs you will see

I am not worried about mpg's, I am an obsessive person. I want to know exactly what I am getting. The toneau is to keep things dry.
Im am concerned that a CAI may decrease low end torque. I like the sound they make! The truck is way too quiet. MDRAM43 why are you thinking of removing yours, and what kind is it?
Thanks, White2500!

I've also got a 2012 2500 Crew 4x4 with the Hemi and 4.10's. Recently replaced the factory off road BFGs with Cooper AT3's in a size larger (285's) and had the speedo corrected at the dealer. Mileage is up a bit to a little over 14 mpgs. That is on "up to 10%" ethanol, no straight gas available anywhere in the area. Also a lot of hilly terrain which hurts mileage. Still learning the truck but on most of the 45 mph roads, leaving the tranny in 4 seems to do the best other wise it's lugging and shifting all the time due to the hilly terrain.
I also have an Undercover and a Corsa exhaust. The exhaust was more for sound than anything as the truck was too quiet stock.

I believe there is only the one on the front driveshaft. Found a video a while back on how to locate it.

2012 2500 hemi
hi, I'm new to this forum but I noticed your post. I have recently just bought a new 2012 2500 slt with the hemi. I am curious about gas mileage because my truck is reading 7.8 which is ridiculous. I have put in a leveling kit and a bit bigger tires but there's no way I should be getting that bad mpg!!! I'm taking it in to the dealer today but curious to what other 2500 hemi's are getting. thanx, and nice trucks by the way.
