Upgrade Plans
Hello Ram Enthusiasts. I've started the project to upgrade my 2010 Ram Laramie and I'm interested in your input.
Here is the story so far. I felt like too much of a revenue opportunity to the local police with my new Hemi so I installed an Escort 9500ix, had the wires run and they pop out of the mirror so nothing shows but the unit.
I added a Bak Flip F1 Tonneau cover and put a power lock in the tailgate. Seemed silly to me to have the rest of the car work with the remote and the back only lock with the key that you DON'T use to start the vehicle.
I came from two prevous vehilce with HID lights and felt the headlights sucked so 6000K HID's went in to the fog lights and low beams. I never use the high beams now, low beams are brighter. While I was at it I added an LED tailight bar. For some reason those things are too cool.
Next came a Steel Craft Grille Guard, love how its chrome and black.
Next I started on the engine. A K&N Series 63 AirCharger kit was installed and so far I'm happy.
Now the hard parts, whats next? I'm thinking a Triple Dog GT or Diablo Sport Trinity Programmer, then a Magnaflow Cat Back System.
I'm also thinking about a RadyLift 2" Leveling Kit to allow me to do Fuel Mojave Chrome 20" Wheel s with 33" Nitto Trail Grappler MT's.
Have any of you done the Triple Dog or the Trinty? Do you have a recommendation of feedback on an exhaust? I'm looking for power and milage improvements without TOO much noise... a little is cool. I do some trail drives but mostly around town, tow the boat kind of activity.
Thoughts welcome

I wouldnt do the programmer until you have your physical mods set, and I'd do a full exhaust before I'd just do a catback. These trucks sound great and seem to get noticable gains from a high flow cat... but thats just my opinion!
Cab lights, BedTred, bedside box, tow hooks (not necessary in your case) were the other ones that were first on my list!

Update: I took the above advice and had a magnaflow installed and then got the Diablosport Trinity. Wow. They really made a big positive difference in how the truck feels. What I really wanted to do next was replace the tires with tires just a touch taller. Who knew THAT task would be such a pain in the butt. Turns out all the taller tires that would fit on the same rims (I like these rims) are LT tires not passenger tires. This means they all need greater tire pressure. Well wouldn't that **** off the TPMS? Everybody agreed it would however nobody, even the Dodge service department, could tell me if the TPMS could be adjusted for a different PSI tire. After talking with everybody I could find for 3 weeks I gave up and ordered new tires in the SAME size as the current ones. I can't wait to be ride of the OEM Goodyears. Soon I'll be able to report on Cooper Zeon LTZ's.
Per Peeve - My iPhone 4 just plain doesn't work right with the UConnect system. After asking the dealer if there was an update (I was told no) and searching the forums I found there IS an update. RER_2.402 OMG it fixed my problem with crappy/choppy bluetooth connections and also made the iPOD connection in the glove box work right. If you have a iPhone and haven't upgraded the software in your radio its easy and well worth the trouble. Go here to find the update and instructions for installing it. ITS FREE http://mofv.com/mygig/ (Note, this may only be for vehicles to 2010, in 2011 I think they changed the maker of that system) PS - there is also an update to let your radio know about more songs so track info shows right when you put in a newer CD
Two other things I wanted to do:
1 Make my fog lights stay on with my high beams. I read here and in other Dodge forums and found info that said StarScan at the dealer can do this... when I talked to the dealer they no longer have Starscan and say they wouldn't do it anyway, its illegal. Sigh, www.mrtaillight.com sells a relay setup called a "high beam kit" Its on sale on the site but shipping is stupid, you can buy it from ebay with free shipping from the same people for less. I'll let you know how that goes in a while when it shows up and I get it installed.
2, I want to be able to use the NAV while in motion, listen to Pandora from my Phone and a host of other features available but locked on the UConnect MyGig system. I've found and will order shortly the MyGig Lockpick. This sounds really cool. You need to check it out.

Thats all for now. As always please comment if you think I'm crazy or headed down the wrong path. I appreciate your input.

I have the cooper zeons on my truck and love them so far. There is a bit of road noise but I got used to it and dont even notice it anymore. As far as the tpms is concerned, I dont know why a higher pressure tire would mess them up. 1500 rams with 17 inch tires can be equipped with LT load range E tires from the factory and can run up to 80 psi.

I see you already bought the Diablosprt tuner.
I'd suggest getting the Superchips. They offer Advanced Transmission tuning which allows WAY more than Diablo does. Total control of your upshift and downshift points. Torque Management control..etc
I had Diablo for my '08. Sold it for a Superchips and wont ever go back. Night and day.
I was one of the first member on this site to install Cooper Zeon LTZ's. I put them on my truck back in June 2008. I've been through heavy downpours, snow, sleet, mud, loose gravel..etc
They are XL rated tires and I have 35psi in them. Never set off my TPMS light and they sit nice and ride nice. You don't need tcrazy pressure.
Heavy rain...awesome tire 10/10
Snow...Very good tire(I have had others that were better but were on different rucks so that could make a differece) 8/10
ice..what tire is good on ice..lol
gravel..i.e loose stone 8/10
mud.. 7/10
Ride quality 9/10 (slightly stiff but handles corners very well)
Loud tire?..NOPE...10/10
Looks..10/10
Overall 9/10 for these tires. I'm very happy.
As for the Delar not having the Starscan tool anymore...rofl I doubt that's the case because they cannot work on any 2006+ Dodge/Chrysler vehicle without one!!!!
BriteBox makes fogs stay on with Highbeams but they charge something stupid like $250 or something along those lines. I'd be very cautious what you do because they are TIPM controlled!
I built a kit for my 2008 tipm controlled truck and my fogs stay on with my highs now. 100% tipm safe ;-) I can make you a harness that allows your fogs to stay on with highbeams if you'd like. PM me.
