hey guys. i have a question. i'm getting a 2012 ram 5.7 hemi on wed. the dealer told me that some people are having problems with the MDS when they put on aftermarket exhaust on. at highway speeds when in 4 cyl mode they go to accel and the vehicle surges and doesn't run right due to the different exhaust system. i need my truck loud, even tho the wife doesn't think so. any help would be great. what systems are you guys using and is it just a muffler replacement or a entire cat back system? also are you having any problems with the MDS system at all with the exhaust?

 

Mds will not sound so hot, but other than that I had no issues on my 09. I now have the same setup, mufflex 14, which is a bolt in magnaflow solution, sitting in my garage waiting on my 12 to show up.

 

I got the magnaflow cat back system put on. It's the kit with the 5" tips and so far I love it, iv'e had it for almost 3 years and sounds definetly more aggressive since new. The tips are still in very good shape and chrome considering it's use northern canada full of salt in the winter time. As for the mds i never noticed as much as some say when mds kicked in, thats from the cab also. I disabled it lately with superchips and sounds like a V8 all the time, plus it doesn't save that much unless hauling long trips. Drones not bad at all, unless im hauling my camper and quad at 2000 rpms for 14 hour days lol. Then she's pretty loud, sounds really good driving through towns or buildings.

 

alright thanks, now i can let the wife know i have a "solution" to that stock exhaust sound. that will make her day!!! o well its not her truck lol
