Default Chrome Clad Wheels

So, a few weeks ago I did some spring cleaning on my truck.
I cleaned the wheels with soap and water then went back and waxed them with carnuba wax.

The other day I noticed a goldish tint to the chrome in a few spots. Is it wearing off??

I spent more to buy that particular truck because of the chrome wheels and running boards. A year later and the boards are rusting and the wheels are starting to wear.

You bought your truck specifically to get chromed-plastic wheels? I'm not sure about whether or not the wax would've penetrated the chrome plating--don't think it would've; but if you need some replacements, I have a set of 4 I'd be willing to part with.

It was news to me that the "chromed aluminum wheels" are actually plastic coated... what a rip!

They are chrome clad, says it right on the sticker so not sure why people are ever shocked at the wheels. Look at all chrome wheels on newer vehicles, most are clad.

How long did you go between washes? Winter and caked on brake dust = bad for any wheel.

I guess that I can see how someone thought they were aluminum wheels with the chrome plated directly on the aluminum--when they hear 'chrome clad aluminum'. They should call it 'chrome clad plastic covers on aluminum'.

I don't like the small, but deep lug nut holes (difficult to clean), but I do think that design would have looked good with a black paint too. I thought about trying to paint them, but paint would never stick (good).
