Default Fresh kill ! 2011 f150 5.0........

Here's the scoop. Guy in the office has an 2011 fx4 crew cab loaded 4x4 5.0.
3.73 gears. Sct programmer, exhaust , full CAI. 20" rims

My truck. 09' quad cab sport 4x4. 3.55 rear end. Superchips tuner, k&n drop in filter, magnaflow 14" muffler. 39k miles , stock plugs still!

Raced from a dead stop, to about 90mph. 2 people in each truck, even start.
I had him out of the hole, and kept a full truck length the whole time.
I was pretty impressed. I thought for sure he would get me off the line because of his lower gears. I know I have more hp but anyway I thought it was pretty cool. Just wanted to let everyone know..

HP always wins, 1 ruck length isn't much. I Believe that 5.0 ford is a ton under 400 H.P. Whats your RAM stock? My 2012 is approx 400. Arent the HEMIs 100,000 mile tune-up? If so 39,000 on the plugs means nothing. How much does the Superchips tuner, K7N filter, magnaflow muffler add? I'd say you're running 40 - 50 more H.P. I'm surpeised you only got a truck length on him. Oh, i'm not picking on you, I just bought my first DODGE, love it.

just courious, is 3.55 gears in a 4x4 common? I would of thought a lot lower in a 4x4.

They are stock Dodge gears. Others include 3.23 and 3.92. 4.10's are seen on R/T's only.

Atta boy that's how it's done, I'm sure he had confidence in his ford and you proved him wrong, things should be pretty quiet in the office now hehe.

3. 55 must be common that what I had when I first bought but then I blew my diff so I went with 4.56. Way better for my setup and bthe towing I do.

tunaman, well i believe superchips is claiming 40hp/40tq at the motor. im guessing my 14" magnaflow and k&n drop in might be 7-8hp for better flowing system? im not trying to stack hp numbers, but the stock muffler was a restrictive pig at 3 feet long by 8" in diam....lol you can see right through my new one...

someone correct me if im wrong, but im 99% sure the 09' rams with hemi, and MDS require 30k plug changes...

3.55 is standard in most of the dodge rams i believe unless you order it with the 3.92 or get a few certain models..

the ford has 360hp and 380tq stock, BUT i believe those motors do really well with tuning, i couldnt find exact numbers but im thinking 50+hp at the motor...

anyway, its kind of funny racing 6000lb trucks. lol. i dont normally do this sort of thing, but it was funny to see his face after...lol

Crod, I agree with everything you say, except about racing 6000 lb. trucks, heck I'm 63 and love every bit of it!!! LOL When I was gonna get a Ford believe it or not I was gonna get the 5.0 as opposed to the echo boost. Just old fashioned I guess, but I felt the 5.0 is a true and proven engine. I know they did some unbelievable torture test on the echo but I kinda want to see it out a couple more yrs. I knew it had less hp and a little less torque but I had two 5.4 which werent bad and I believe the 6.0 has more H.P. and torque than the 5.4. Anyhow, I'm not surprised your ram beat it. I was/am really surprised the way mine runs. Love the cold air box, I believe it runs a little better and gives it a great tone. I have wondered what my muffler is like, do you know if they have changed it in 2012? Believe it or not, the cold air box makes it sound like it has high performance exhaust on it when you step on it but is quiet when just crusing. Not sure wife or me are ready for that constant rumble yet! LOL

oh Crod, I forgot. When I had only owned Fords I thought all RAMS were pigs too, thats why we were so surprised the min. we sat in and drove the RAM. It absolutly would beat the 5.4 big time. Not sure what the H.P. was on the older Rams but mine is pennies over 400, and I believe 390 or so torque, stock, and gets over 18 mpg at 85-90, I still say thats not bad. 3.56 gears

Yeah not sure on exhaust but I'm 99% sure it's the same?
Check out a company called mufflex online. They already have stainless pipes pre welded to the magnaflow muffler
