Default Help with Muffler Replacement

Can someone tell me what the two small "muffler-looking" things are near the rear of the tailpipes are? I have been given a Flowmaster 10 series, which I am trying to figure out how to install, and having a tough time.

Someone told me they were resonators and there was some debate on whether to remove or keep.

If this helps: 2009 Dodge 1500 w/ Hemi with stock muffler (single in / dual out) and stock tailpipes.

Any assistance is appreciated.

They are exactly as you stated. You can take them out to make the system louder. I do not beleive they are required but I may be wrong. I left mine in when I put my Mufflex muffler on and I really like th sound of my system!

Thanks for the help.

I ended up leaving the resonators on since I talked to a tech at an exhaust fitting shop and he advised that they help cut down on the drone in the cabin.

Installed my muffler with resonators left on, sounds great.

Thanks Again
