LOL. The only threads that get people more fired-up than oil threads are oil filter threads...

Fram does make a higher end filter these days. You got to realize they also sell THOUSANDS upon thousands of filters.

that's probably because they advertise the crap out of them and put them in a bright orange box that sticks out on a shelf. plus shops probably get a real good deal on them to use them in there shop.

personally from what i have seen online i would never stick one on my truck. there was one on my RC when i bought it and it was the first thing to be changed. you can buy better quality filters for the exact same price as the fram filter so that is what i do.

I don't use them either. I did see one of their new HIGHER end filters dissected and it was not cardboard junk. It was well constructed. I don't think its shops using Fram. It appears thousands are sold and bought by the general public. If they had a HUGE failure rate and such they wouldn't you'd hear about such. Fact is. You don't. Use to be a time that QS oil and Pennzoil were said to create sludge. That dosen't happen anymore either.

I could talk all day about having a lawn mower with a Viper engine on it but it didnt happen if there is no picture evidence. Same with this "higher end FRAM filter".

Engines today require less "break in" than they did in the past. By the first oil change you should be good to go to synthetic. I agree with dumbass up there (Mikeyyy816) LOL, and change a new vehicle around 1500. I just rebuilt the 4.7 in my Jeep (see my thread in our Jeep section) and put conventional in with a Mopar filter and will change it at 1500.

I also have owned three ATVs all bought new and changed oil - also full synthetic and plug(s) at 20 hours, thereafter every 100 hours with a new air filter. I'll often clean the air filter a couple of times in between.

I have used RP and believe it or not it made my infamous "Hemi Tick" quiet down to where you really have to listen for it. It's loudest with conventional and Mobil 1 for some reason. I usually use Valvoline SynPower and that makes the tick almost as quiet as RP but not quite. I've always liked Wix (NAPA Gold) filters but the closest NAPA is 12 miles from me and the local Advance usually runs a deal with a free filter with a jug of Valvoline SynPower - which I'll use if it's a good'un. I like anything made by Champion Labs (Mopar, K&N, RP, etc.) or a Purolator and it's usually the K&N or Purolator they bundle for free...
