Default 2012 Hemi Ram oil leak

Hey I am new here and would would appreciate any input you guys have. Just bought a new 2012 Ram 1500 Big Horn ... truck runs great but has an oil leak at 500 miles ( now has 750 miles) ... looks to me like the rear main seal since it is leaking out of the front of the transmission case. I notice they put a small opening in the case and that is where it looks like it is leaking from ... had an 03 Ram that I just traded for this and did not have oil issue at all. I am goning to take it back to the dealer this week but just wanted to know if anyone had the same problem.

I had a similar issue on my but not that early with the miles. It turned out that the leak was from the transmission pan seal. The leak looked to me to be coming from the engine but due to the swirling of air under the truck, the fluid spreads around and it's rally hard to tell where the leak is from. The dealer used a dye and isolated it. Good luck.

Yeah, after crawling under the truck with a light it looks like it may be leaking down from the engine some where ... maybe the dip stick tube or oil sending unit ... not sure .. it is on the driver side somewhere ... then dripping down and off the trans case

Joe,

I could find no service bulletin for an oil leak issue. Hopefully the dealer will be able to resolve your issue quickly and to your satisfaction. Post back up what they find when you take it in for service please.

Well I got the call and it was sure something I did not want to hear ... looks like they need to do the rear main seal on it .... I just hate having the truck tore apart with 700+ miles on it.
