Fear no Ecoboost
Finally made it out to the local drag strip this Friday to blow off some steam. It was truck night and I had a chance to run a new Ford F150 Ecoboost. It was a CC FX4 up against my 09 CC Hemi with a crappy 3.21 open peg leg. I have seen a couple of Ecoboost CC run before hitting some pretty impressive mid 14 second times so I was a little anxious. We were both about dead even on reaction times but he quickly pulled over a truck length on me past the 60 ft mark (My 60' was 2.3 to his 2.2). By the 1/8 mile mark I realed him in and we were dead even. I was smiling from ear to ear as my Ram sailed past him and beat the Ecoboost by about three truck lenghts by the 1/4 mile. It was a badass race in really crappy hot n humid air, I ran a 15.3 @ 93 mph to the Ford's losing 15.5 @ 89. To be fair, he did run his truck hot and after a long cool down, he ran a 15.3 @ 91 mph. My best time to date has been a 14.9 @ 95 mph in cooler air this past April.

Same here love the Hemi, but for a little six banger I am impressed. Lots of potential for improvement. There was a CC FX4 Ecoboost running low 14's showing his tail lights to some mustangs. Definately was not stock, but with some 4.10 gears and a superchip tuner I'll be right by him.
According to Autoblog, the Ford 3.5 has been around for a while, they are in mustangs, fusions, the 500 etc. All they did was install twin turbo's, wala there is your ecoboost. I am sure if you installed twin turbo's on a Ram 3.7 V-6 (last year of production 2012) it would probably go fast to. The 2013 hemi will have 395 hp.
Twin turbo's replace two absent cylinders, I'm not impressed. It would be nice to see Dodge make an optional 6.4 with the Ram. It already has the MDS within the Jeep SRT8 392, and that's were the 5.7 MDS started (Besides the LX platform) prior to the introduction with the half tons.
We put a superchips 93 tune on my brothers FX4 - 3.73 gears with an ecoboost. Only issue is with the electronic locking rear axle, it is an open diff until it is in one of the 4x4 modes, then you can lock it. You can now roast the right rear tire completely off the truck on any dry pavement surface and as far as taking off from a stop sign on a wet road, forget it, one inch of throttle pressure and your spinning. The limited slip option would be better I think for those mostly in 2wd. Throttle response is amazing with the tune. We have yet to line our trucks up but will eventually. I'd get one but I'm on the last year of payments for the 09 so I'll be paid off and have some trade value, before I decide, I'll be driving the new 8 speed Hemi Ram before making the choice. Laramie or Sport Hemi with 3.92 gears and the 8 speed or an FX4 with an ecoboost with 3.73 gears.... Lack of flash tuning is totally disappointing for the 2011 and up Rams though.

Good kill, esp for being in a CC. I am not too surprised though. I have run 2 fecalboosts and destroyed them both. For a while I never saw one on the street, then all of a sudden they started appearing..... but now I hardly ever see one anymore. Where they go???

Probably waiting at the dealership for another new electric pump, and or tranny. I'm not bashing either, I'm going through this BS currently with my four year old Limited Exploder!
The new 8 speed has no column or floor shifter, it is a dial on the dash. The gear selector (1-2-3 etc. is on the steering wheel). It will be stock w/ the 3.6 305 hp Pentastar. The 8 speed will be an option on the Hemi in later production 2013. Ford is Ford I quess, compare window stickers and price. Ford cannot even come close to providing the options like a Ram for the money.
