Default retiring my ole 98 looking for a new Ram

Hi Dodge Fans. My 1998 Ram has had it's time and needs a good home. It's been a faithful steed. Hauling wood and towing our 5th wheel trailer. So I'm asking you all, can you tell me what the 2010-2012's Rams are like and is there any thing I should be looking out for. I'm just starting to look. I know the 2013s will be out soon if not out now. But there is a lot of new technology in the 13's and wish to stay with what has been around for a few years.

Can you help a mopar fan out

cheers

I hear yah !
I had a 97 RAM, sold it a few years ago and missed it so I just bought a new '12 Express. LOVE it so far !! Close to 2x the HP and same crappy MPGs lol

Can't answer your questions since I have no idea what your likes/dislikes are but I bet you too will love the latest and greatest !! Take a trip to the dealer and check them out.

Good luck

I'll help out. I know you are looking at 10'-12' but the 13' has the new 3.6 Pentastar w/ 8 speed trans standard.( There will be the 3.6 Pentastar 305 hp, 4.7 310 hp & 5.7 Hemi 395 hp in 13' ). The gear selection (1-2-3 etc.) is on the steering column. The steering will be electronic, that is why the 5 hp boost in the Hemi to 395 hp. Getting back to you original question, any 10' - 12' you would enjoy. This is my 2nd 4th gen. Ram, I have has several prior Ram's to that. I have always enjoyed the Ram. The trucks are reliable. Oh yea, there is no column or floor shifter w/ the 8 speed there is a dial in the dash (P-N-D)

You're asking a lot without being specific, that's why you have so few answers. The best thing to do is to click on "search", select "advanced search", select a subject in the keywords and then select the 4th gen section. That way you can search whatever subject you want to know about and see the posts.

By the sounds of it you tow so I would go after the 3.92 gears and the tow package. Also you want to consider the salt since you live up North. I personally got the Chrome bumpers because I wanted them but now I am glad I got them because I do not have to worry about the paint chipping when you inevitably end up behind the sand truck! I would look for a truck with a 17" tire option as the tires are much cheaper and you have a lot more options with a 17" then you do a 20" rim. You may want to even look at the 2500 since you tow a fifth wheel, you'll be ablt to get the 4.11 gears and all of the other gooddies you get with the 2500, it will ride rougher but not sure if you use it for a daily driver. I hope this helps a little bit.

Now that's more like it ....thanks !!

I need to know if there were any issues with the 10' -12's. I heard there was trouble with axle issues in the 09's. Other than that I haven't heard much. I tow a small 5th wheel (approx. 5000 lbs.) with our '98 1500 with 3:55 axle for 15 years, but agree 3:92 would be better. 2500's are out of my price range. I thought about the 13's but there's a lot of new technology and it would be the first model year for them. 10-12's are more in my price range.
thanks again for the input.

so far I've owned a 91 dakota -318 v8 for 7 years.. traded in needed more room - great truck. and 1998 quad cab (first year for quad cabs) for almost 15years. thats good up here in Nova scotia (salt belt).
