Best winter / off road tire for 2012 ram 1500 20inch rims?
Need some input from winter off roaders on best tires to get?
Tire size on my 2012 Ram 1500 is 275-65-20
I have Blizzaks for winter on road driving - awful in mud.
This winter I will be going frequently off road into the Colorado/Wyoming/North Dakota oil fields, will be lot of mud, snow, ice, muck, etc.
So far I have looked at Nitto Crosstek, Goodyear Wrangler ArmorTrac and Big O Bigfoot A/T.
Am confused about best tire out there these days.

If you are looking for the 'best tire out there' you are going to get a lot of different answers since I'm quite sure no one here has tested them all.
I too like the GY Silent Armours. I had them on my 05 and really liked them. Great traction in mud and snow, ride very nice and wear good too. I'll be getting a set for the new truck when they come on sale.
Good luck with your search.

It seems the BFG's are the most popular. I have done some searching lately to see what is out there. My truck came stock w/ Goodyear AT/S all terrain and through two winters have been ok, and the pricing is reasonable, keeping in mind trucks historically do not go great in snow because of the bed.

I would throw a couple more in the mix in addition to those mentioned already. Toyo's new Open Country A/T II has been impressive so far. The Cooper Discoverer AT3 would be another to check out. Here's some links.

Firestone Destination AT gets my vote. I've had a set on my truck for the last year and a half. Very good winter tire and its not noisy. I've got the 17's so you would need to make sure that they make your size. The price is great compared to some of the others mentioned too.
If you're into ratings - tire rack has had them rated as the #1 on/offroad all terrain tires for 2 years

Mine had the AT/S stock as well and they were not the worst tire in the world, just wore out quickly. I keep about 500lbs of sand tubes in the bed during the winter when there is not a sled in the bed.

Hey Andy, what about the Cooper M&S. They supposedly have the alpine mountain snowflake mark on them. Anything good on those? I am looking at those as well. However not many stores around me have snow tires in stock quite yet. I have priced the Silent Armour tires from the Goodyear store about 80 miles away from me. I live in the sticks.....
