Went to the drag strip this past Friday to blow off some steam in my 09 CC 2wd Hemi (Lonestar edition), I've got 44K on the odometer and my truck has the 3.21 open diff. Only mods so far are a K&N drop in and a Magnaflow 18" muffler, but she still runs like a champ. Our track is in deep south Texas and is 97 ft above sea level. A cold front finally rolled in this Friday bringing in some cooler air. 1st good kill of the night was a race with a new CC F150 ecoboost FX4, both of us had just got to the track so we ran our trucks hot. Ecoboost had a better 60' than me but I quickly reeled him in and walked away. I ran a 15.572 @ 91.95 to the Ford's 15.698 @ 90.97. My best race of the night was against another F150 CC FX2 5.0. This truck was running pretty strong posting low 15's in the 93 mph range, it was running an aftermarket exhaust, K&N CAI and smaller tires in the rear. It took an 1 ½ hrs for my truck to cool down. On the 1st hop lap run temp was at 201 F, the truck cooled down to 154 F my sweet spot. I called the F150 5.0 out and we lined up, I had the better reaction off the line. Had about a half truck lead and kept on pulling away. I ran a 15.261 @ 92.63 to the Ford's 15.279 @ 90.55, should have seen the look on the guys face. I love serving up big pieces of Hemi pie to them Ford's. I can’t wait for jack frost to bring some chilly weather for some high 14's.

Ive spent lots of time with EcoBoost F150s pulling, hauling and racing...and I will say that the EcoBoost performs every bit as well as Ford claims. However, with two different test trucks, I didnt get the mileage that they talk about. On a trip to PA from Detroit, I got similar mileage with an unloaded EcoBoost F150 as I got with my 06 Hemi Quad Cab - pulling a solid steel trailer with my 83 ramcharger loaded on for the exact same trip. Mileage aside, if I were to buy any truck other than a Ram (which I would not unless Ram went under), it would be an EcoBoosted F150.
I will also say that my 06 QC ran 15.0s in street trim and both EcoBoost trucks I had would not beat my Ram head to head. However, with an EcoBoosted F150 against a V8 Silverado each with 700lbs in the bed...the EcoBoost absolutely destroys the Chevy.
(by the way...my lots of time is for someone who doesnt own an EcoBoost. I put about 2,200 miles on two different trucks...im sure that owners of those trucks will have more experience and better results than did i)

I have only seen one F150 FX2 sport CC ecoboost run mid 14's at my track and it was definately not stock. That truck was at least a second faster than several other ecoboosts I saw running that day. Still was impressive for a big CC. As far as why the one I ran was so slow, I would guess two things affeted his e.t.'s, hot engine and weight. His truck was a 4x4 and probably had a full tank of gas. I try to run my tank down to empty and show up with a quarter tank of super for the track. Another interesting observation about my 3.21's, I set my tranny to 2nd and launch off idle. With my 20' tires 1st gear holds just before the 1/8 mile and the truck stays in 2nd all the way past the 1/4 traps. So I only shift twice staying longer in the hemi power band, while other trucks change 3 or more gears before the end.

Wow, that's a horrible time for the Eco-Boostie! I've seen a couple Boosters run head to head at Great Lakes Dragaway, but they consistently ran upper 14's. The only Hemi 2wd Ram 3.92 QC there was running consistent between 14.8/15.1's, but still finished a couple truck lengths behind when running head to head on a booster.
