Perhaps someone who tows a fifth wheel has already run into this problem, and can answer this question.

The backup camera for the factory installed 730N system (SAT/CD/GPS/etc...) is installed the handle compartment at the top of the factory tailgate.

I tow a 34 ft fifth wheel and would like to remove the factory tailgate and replace it with an aftermarket gate that designed for towing a fifth wheel. ( The type that has the "U" shape in the middle that eliminates the need to raise/lower the gate.) The construction/design of most of these tailgates is such that the camera can't be mounted on the inside or outside of these tailgates

My question is has anyone removed and re-located the factory camera to a different area AND did the move effect the ability of the camera to accurately do it's job? If necessary, can a different camera be introduced into this system, and will it be compatible with the factory system?

I've been looking around for a potential spot and was thinking of the area to the right of the license plate frame!
