6.7 cummins or 5.7 Hemi
#12
Here's my experience. A family member had a 2011 ram 2500 CTD and I have an 03' 1500 hemi, both 4x4 and leveled with 34" tires. The diesel absolutely sucked the fuel, averaging 11 mpg. It also was completely stock with all the emissions still intact. My old hemi gets the same mpg's in town but on the highway, I can see as much as 15-18. However, the diesel is way more powerful, shifts better and is such a smooth motor.
It really doesn't matter what you buy, the mpg's will be very similar. If you can afford the diesel go for it! Just beware that it may run rough in very cold climates and it needs to be driven. Also, in 2013, I pretty sure all diesel trucks will have the urea additive like the Fords, so don't forget to top of your urea tank every fill up.

true..But your paying 10 grand up front for a ctd, add to the montly payments+intrest and the desire for a new truck every five years and you will never get your money out of a CTD.. if your not working a CTD to the frame rails..

every year the dodge puts up the free cummins upgrade, and yeah retained value will be higher with the cummins. if your throwin the lift in and big tires, it sucks feeling like the truck is a little sluggish with the hemi. BUT i run 6" lift with 37's on my 1500 cc 3.55 and it still does have jam and can keep up with everybody else on the road. i get 17/18mpg and i drive that QE2 at 130km/hr like everybody else. i can even see like 19-20 when i drop it down to 100km/hr. i think though the 1/5 ton components will be a lil worse for wear over the long run and might not hold up as long. but hey we work in the oil patch so either way you are going to have enough cash for either and like someone said, rigs always have fuel although its dirty. few guys who have diesels i know all had injector issues with them which i believe was traced back to all the extra crap that ran through them. one guy i know added extra fuel filter in line with the other one.
