Welded? That would be safe No, they are bolted on in a few places using some new and some existing bolts.

Nope, mount/thread right to existing frame. It's no more then a 30-45 minute job, don't waste a trip to the dealer. The hooks are a two piece design, which makes it easy to mount without having to remove the air-dam underneath, as the "waste of a time instructions" advise to do. I just modified my plastic insert to be notched for the hooks, would look kinda funny completely removed. As Old Jeep said, the sport model can not utilize the plastic insert made for non-sport models.

While you're under there you might want to just install the mopar fog lights that fit in between the tow hooks and scrap the plastic piece all together.

In DFW area I drove to Corpus Christy round trip in 1 weekend 850 mile round trip
Running 80 mph south , mpg was 19 to , coming back north same speed 21 , wind pushing me
Hemi 5.7. 2009 , 177,000 on the clock
