2012 Rusting wheels and bumper
I bought my truck in August last year and have noticed the front bumper and the wheels are prone to rusting. I took the truck back to the dealer in Feb. and I believe they just polished the evidence off. It is now ~2000kms later and it's back. What do I need to do to get these replaced? The truck only has 11,000kms (7000 miles) on it now.

I don't know what you can do to as far as a replacement, but I do know a temporary fix. Check this video out. I used this method on my several of my vehicles in the past, it works pretty well.

Have you notified your dealer that the problem is back? They will have to diagnose the issue to determine what is causing this ongoing concern. If you'd like to PM your VIN# and the name of your servicing Dodge dealer I'd be happy to review this further for you or you can contact the Chrysler Canada Customer Care department at 1-800-465-2001.
not to be harsh, but I see you live in saskatchewan
looks pretty normal for a winter driven vehicle to me.
If you plan on keeping your truck pristine and winter driving it you have to be very dilligent with washing waxing and polishing everything to prevent corrosion. if not, park it in the garage and wait for spring.

i wasnt trying to tick you off, just trying to explain that the problems you pointed out in the pictures are nothing out of the ordinary.
I live in alberta and i can walk around a parking lot at any given time and find 10 newer dodges with they same issues you have.
So what would you expect the dealer to do, its not like the can replace your chrome parts and then they wont rust again for 20 yrs.
Your going to continue to have the same issue year after year, new parts or not.
And I can tell that you havent been polishing regularly because if you had been theyre wouldnt be anything to show in the pictures. the rust in the pictures could be polished off now if you wanted to.
Anyway good luck with whatever happens, hope you get it sorted out.

Thank you for replying. I took it by the dealer the other day and the young guy at the counter took a bunch of pictures. I went back a couple days later to have a service done and asked the service manager about it. He didn't have the pictures, so he came out to look at it and basically told me that if I were to have these replaced now that if I ended up having problems with the replacements they wouldn't be able to replace them again as they are only covered once. Is this true?
You're not serious are you? Could you explain how you know I haven't taken steps to try and prevent this from happening like you mentioned? I have by the way. Could you also explain how previous vehicles I've owned that were known to be prone to rust (an '88 Nissan truck) was about 7 years old and had over 150,000kms before it started to rust on me, while this truck was 6 months old and only had 9,000 kms on it had more rust than a vehicle known to have issues made it 15 times longer? Hell, my last cheap car I had bought was a completely rust free 1994 Mazda that was 10 years old when I bought it and still had no rust 5 years after I bought it.

replacing all your OEM rusted parts with the exact same OEM new parts wont fix or stop the rusting problems, trust me when i say its a waste of your time. (i`ve already been down this road several times with TWO of my very own 2010 4th gen trucks) The only fix is for chrysler to stop using junk metal, and inferior chrome plating process`s by the vendors they choose all the time. Some day these car maker`s will figure it all out when they wont have anymore buyers...too late by then...! They`re cutting every corner to make profits, but loosing customers in the process. I myself share your pain, i`ve had 2 forth gen trucks rot out already, both were 2010 trucks. My second 4th gen truck is headed back to the dealer (in under 6 months) soon for the 2nd time that the box has rusted out again. Once they fix it AGAIN this time, repair the rusted thru areas, repaint again, this very truck wont be back in MY driveway any longer... nore will i buy another chrysler product again. Thought about maybe wanting a new charger, but have since changed my mind about even doing that.
For any of you guys in here saying he didnt take care of his truck, i dont believe for a minute that he didnt. I`ve had 2 of these 4th gen trucks just simply rot out on me as well, (bumbers, wheels, AND body panel`s) and i wash AND wax my vehicles more than the average joe, so lay off the guys with rusting issues with these junk vehicles, its garbage metal they`re using, and ElCheapo chrome plating process`s. For those that arent having rust problems...GOOD, glad to hear it...be very happy that you aren`t..! Chrysler dam well knows thers rusting problems with their vehicles, but they figure its cheaper to just put a band-aid on it and HOPE the customer`s warranty`s run out before they can do anything to get it fixed.
