Single exhaust to Dual ? Cheapest route?
Hey Guys,
Just bought a new 2012 Dodge Ram 4.7L Quad Cab! love this forum so far its packed with info!!The one thing thing i don't like is the side single exhaust and I like the look of the dual exaust cutouts in the bumper of the Hemi.
Questions: What would be the cheapest route to accomplish this look.I don't really care about true dual exhaust like from the manifold back but just the look itself.
Would it be a direct bolt on for the new dual exhaust bumper?
Would i buy a dual outlet muffler and then just buy the hemi muffler,tailpipes and tip to go to the back.Not concerned with sound just the cheapest route to get that look.

The "dual" exhaust is nothing more than a single pipe going to a muffler with exists on each end. Would be pretty easy to retrofit, but I would expect it to be more restrictive than the single system since the duals have a lot more bends to get the dual look. And fwiw - not all hemis have the duals - mine is a single and I like it that way.
I prefer singles myself, but that is just a personal matter.
And yes, the Hemis had duals with packages such as the Lone Star, Big Horn, Express and Sport and Laramie trucks.
Regular SLT and Outdoorsman trucks didn't have the duals.

Well i a definetly think duals even with the bends is still less restrictive otherwise dual exahaust would not exist.Two pipes lets more exhaust out of the engine to help it breathe.
Does anyone know if i need to add a hanger to complete the install.
My plan is too get the new dual exhaust bumper add muffler and tailpipes from a dual setup.Is the pipe size the same? I just want to bolt it on.

The reason that this type of "duals" exist is only for fashion, not function. A real dual system breathes better, but a real dual has a pipe coming from each bank of the motor exiting into its own muffler.
If you like the look, then that is great - but don't try to convince yourself that what you are doing is going to add any performance.
