Uconnect 3.0 upgrade options?
I'm not sure if this belongs in Tech or not so please move if necessary.
I just bought a 2013 Ram 1500 that came with the Uconnect 3.0 My Jeep I just traded in had a Uconnect radio with bluetooth so I assumed they were all bluetooth. I also realized that it does not have a CD player either. The one I test drove had the remote CD player. This one was DX'd in and I did not realize there was no CD or Bluetooth until I was on my way home. Now it's not the end of the world but is there a viable upgrade option.

A factory upgrade will cost you an arm and a leg. I imagine it's the same double din radios that came in the early 4th Gens right? If so, I'd look into a nice aftermarket unit. You can get a heck of a lot more radio with a lot more features for just a fraction of the price.
/\ /\ This...
I didn't look hard but Crutchfield didn't list anything for a 2013 Ram 1500. There is a Ram 1500 at work. I don't know who owns it but the radio looks just like the one that was in my Jeep. Mine looks very different from that one. It is probably a double DIN. The one in my truck... Not so sure.
Crutchfield has this installation note:
They (Crutchfield) do not sell any dash adapters or wiring harnesses - at this time.
Metra does make both the dash adapters and wiring harness. See video here.
In order to install your new receiver, you'll need to fabricate a mounting kit. Professional installation may be required.

Thanks for that link to Metra. That will open up options if I decide I want to change it. I'm gonna give the factory radio some time first.

I like my 3.0, I didn't need a CD player, but I would have liked to have Bluetooth. The thing I hate the most about mine is the reception. Even some local stations have a lot of static. Other then that it's not that bad. I have song on my phone I can plug in, or my mp3 player works too. I have Sirius, but that goes away in a year. Good luck with your choices.
I believe that info refers to swapping one OEM radio for another.
I have seen a number of posts where the stock radio has been replaced with an aftermarket radio.
