Default best cai for 12 hemi truck

I'm looking for the one that gives the most hp for the buck.

S & B claimed 25-30 from theirs, but don't think its right.

I'll make you one out of PVC and a sweet paper filter that'll last 2k from my garage and it'll give you 60hp...that's what I claim.

just messing with yah. Honestly save your $$....I bought CAI for my truck when I first bought it and it gave a it a louder growl and K&N claimed something like 15hp (ish)..let's be real, the *** dyno won't be able to tell that difference. I personally thought on mine I lost a little bit of low end torque. But just use the search feature on here and you'll see a lot of reviews..my .02 it's not worth the extra couple hundred.

Leave the stock air box alone, you`ll be glad you did. Aftermarket CAI`s dont work on the 4th gen hemi trucks.
When they tell you it makes more power and mpg`s in stock form with a aftermarket CAI, they`re lying to you.
Save your money for better upgrades that REALLY work...!

I hear what everyone is saying so I would like to throw in my two cents for you to chew on. I like to run my 09 CC 4x2 hemi at my local drag strip, so I am always looking for more HP. I read lots of posts that the stock air box flows well and CIA's were a waste of money. So one of my first mods was a K&N drop in filter, which I ran for a couple of years with good results. However, after I finally got around to buying a SC tuner for my truck, I started getting the urge to buy a CAI. After doing my research, I broke down and purchased a Vararam Air Grabber CAI this past August. My best 1/4 time one week before I installed the Vararam was 14.9 @ 94 MPH. Installed the Vararam and went back a few days later, ran a 14.7 @ 96 under the same track conditions. The manufacture claimed I would see bigger gains over stock box, but I was happy with the gains I saw in the middle of our high south TX summer heat/humidity. So the numbers don’t lie, 2 tenth’s and 2 MPH on a near 6K lbs. truck is probably around a 20 HP gain, the Vararam CIA does work. I also like the S&B intake for fit and finish that would have been my second choice. But speaking from experience, start with a tune first if you haven’t already done so becasue that made the biggest performance difference by far.

That's all your reaction time to the tower, not the addition of a CAI

Although I to have mixed opinions regarding CAI improving such performance gains with stock components, his reaction time to the tree could very well mean nothing.

Many times tracks set the time based off leaving the hole, verses green on the tree, but will still issue a reaction time on the time slip, without deducting from actual 1/4 time. Improved times also could be based off track prep, lane choice, volume of traffic that particular night, wait time. There are many conditions that affect time.

While you guys have a point there are many variables that can affect track times, I personally have my track game down pretty tight. I have been running my truck for several years now and have all my time slips since Oct. 2010. I have been tracking my progress so I can clearly see a difference/improvement after a modification is made. While quick reaction times win drag races, my MPH tells me how much power I am making. There is even a formula that will give you a rough horsepower estimate from your ¼ mile MPH. Here is a breakdown of my best ¼ mile MPH gains on my 09 CC 4x2 Hemi w/ 3:21 open gears: Stock 89 MPH, Magnaflow/K&N drop in/Iridium XD plugs 92 MPH, Superchips 95 MPH, Vararam/180 TSTAT 97 MPH. Again these gains are probably cumulative, but my truck is usually very consistent. My 60’ times are in the 2.2 range, but after adding the Vararam my 330’, 1/8 and ¼ times improved. This confirmed my seat of the pants dyno that once the truck gets up past 3K RPM it feels like it was pulling harder. FYI - A few weeks ago I raced a stock 2012 Ram R/T and won 2 out of three races. He would usually get the jump off the line but I would reel him in by the 1/8 mile and pull away. The best time of the three was 14.6 @ 96 MPH to his 14.8 @ 94.
