Which gears? 2014 HEMI 2wd Reg cab SB
Hi folks,
I'm considering trading in my 2009 V6 truck on a 2014 with a HEMI and the 8 speed automatic. It would be a regular cab, short bed, 2wd Tradesman. I will be getting the sure-grip in the rear differential.
I know the 8 speed has a pretty deep first gear and the standard rear end is the 3.21 ratio, with 3.55 and 3.92 as options.
What do you think? How much acceleration gain from 0 to 60 MPH do you think there will be with the 3.92 verses the 3.21?
MPG is important too, just trying to find a good balance.

It looks like yours is running well!
In the middle would be fine too.
I am actually also considering the new Pentastar V6 too. I need to test one with the 8 speed if I could find one nearby. The HEMI would be nice, but so is the MPG I get with the truck I have now. I'm not sure I could keep my foot out of it enough to get good MPG with the HEMI tempting me all of the time.....
My current V6 may not win drag races but it will certainly get out of its own way and will run interstate speeds all day with no problems at all.

Thanks. It is the first new truck that I have ever bought, and it got rained on and dirty within ten minutes of driving it off of the dealer's lot. LOL! The photo I posted is from a dealer's ad but my truck is just like it. Someday I may add a chrome grill and aftermarket chrome wheels to make it a little unique and less stealthy.

You did the right thing. Torque multiplication is just hard to beat, and with an 8 speed your mileage shouldn't suffer much at all. You will love it, and will definitely have a very happy and snappy truck with those gears
