Default Gears for 2014 Ram

I just bought a 2014 1500 with 3.55 gears. I just towed a 26' trailer to the desert for Thanksgiving and it did ok but I would like it to do better. I called 4 Wheel Parts Wholesalers to get a quote on 4.56 gears and they said the new Rams made changes to the differentials. They said the front ring gear is welded to the carrier and the rear now uses a metric bearing that they don't have. Is this correct and if so is there anybody that makes gears for this truck yet?

Dont quote me on this but Ive heard people had to swap to an earlier year diff, 2010 IIRC to get 4.56 gears in there. Dont quote me though, I really dont have much more info on the subject!

That's what I thought. It would of been allot better with the 8 speed. 8 speed with 3.21 pulls good.

It still did pretty good, I passed everyone else that was pulling a trailer, I would just like the little extra gearing.

I think you will have to change out your complete front diff housing from maybe a 09 or 10 to be able to go down to a 4.56 gear. If you want accurate information and prices on gears and other parts needed contact Matt at Moe's Performance. Another alternative is you can send your stock diff carrier to a vendor of Matt's and have it machined to fit after market 4.56's but he has all the information about that.
