I talked Chrysler and they said the site is NOT correct and that it is supposed to be fair market value of the truck. On KBB my truck is valued about $25K plus 10% so roughly $27000.

They will not be doing any estimates until after OCtober 1st. Im sure there is going to be an estimating curve as well......who you deal with, mood they are in, upset tummy......ugh....ill take them a case of beer, wine, Jack.

If your offer is not good then you can appeal/dispute is as well....

I destroyed my credit starting up my company so i dont have many options to purchase another vehicle unless i get full value. believe me that i will be fighting for every penny all the way to the top.Trade in value does not replace my truck. i cant buy another TRX loaded up for $14K......thats a BS amount and im sure that chrylser knows this. They dont want to get into any more hot water with this recall im sure
So you are saying that the website has the wrong values and they will actually purchase it for more??

The website says KBB trade in + 10% and then it has a tool to tell you an estimated value.

You are saying this is incorrect?

Just curious?

The question here is how is fair market value determined? I'm betting when all is said and done "fair market" is gonna be a lot lower than KBB which has always been said to be unrealistically high...

So who did you call at Chrysler?? I just called and they told me that the website value is a very close estimate to what the buyback offer will be.

So, I finally tracked down someone to ask about my truck. Evidently if you've had the N08 rear axle recall performed then your truck no longer qualifies for the program. Maybe I'm confused, but I thought it qualified no matter what since Chrylser mishandled the program.

No, read my post #7. What you are entitled to is a $100 pre paid Visa IF they didn't do the warranty repair until after 7/24/2015.

BTW, you think FCA got nailed. Volkswagen estimates 11 MILLION recalls worldwide and an official with the NHTSA says fines from the US alone could be $18 billion!!!

Thumbs down Buy-back.....

My '12 RAM3500 qualifies for the buy-back because I haven't had the N49 recall done (left tie rod could break). The official start of the buy-back is tomorrow, Oct 1st, 2015. I do want to sell my truck back because I'm not too happy with how many things have broken on it and the really bad fuel economy compared to my previous 5.9 Cummins. I got my letter 2 weeks ago and called FCA a couple of times. Up to now I have only been able to verify that my truck is eligible. Nobody knows how it's done exactly etc. The service manager at my local dealership is supposed to call an independent 3rd party appraiser to have the inspection done at the dealership. I'm guessing the dealership's role is to be an agent of FCA but so far they have not received any briefing on how to process this whatsoever. Apparently there will be a conference call this afternoon....

I called the Fiat Chrysler U.S. Re-Purchasing hotline and asked the service rep, who calls who and when, how long they expect it to take, who pays me and when will that happen, etc....... She hadn't received any information either and therefore couldn't answer my questions. So she called the factory to find out. A representative by the name John (who wouldn't give me his last name) had no answers either but reassured me that everybody will be up to speed by tomorrow morning Oct. 1st, 2015

I'll be very impressed if the whole dealer network will be up to speed tomorrow but I'm not holding my breath. It almost feels like they didn't expect anyone to qualify or they would be more prepared. The recall N49 has been out since December 2014 from what I understand. I haven't received a letter to that recall (lost in junk mail perhaps), just a letter with a recall for the diesel fuel heater. That letter referenced N49 but not what that recall is about and how potentially dangerous it could be for me to keep on driving without having it fixed.

I had my truck serviced a couple of times since the recall letter was supposedly sent to me but the service writer never brought it up. Not even when I complained about alignment issues. Makes me think that the dealerships may not have known about it either. It's service revenue for them so I'd assume they'd be motivated to get them done, right?

It really looks like nobody is in charge of this at FCA. Or that person is sleeping right thru the deadline. Are any of you guys in the same situation? If this continues to go as badly it might be worth looking into hiring a lawyer to represent all who want to sell their trucks back based on the decree related to N49.

I've requested clarification from NHTSA on what type of price the appraisal will be based - trade-in or??? Purchase Price as per their definition would NOT be trade-in but the resale value, i.e. in a sale to a private party.

Yes, I don't think anyone knows anything about this. I called my local dealer and they didn't even have a clue that there was even a buyback program. The only thing they knew about was the special incentive.

I called NHTSA to see if I can get some information and they were also kind of clueless. I was trying to find out how exactly the fair market value was to be determined. A previous poster on this thread suggested that the fcarecall website amount is wrong. NHTSA told me that they and Chrysler agreed to a formula to calculate value, but she did not know the formula and she told me I had to get the formula from Chrysler.
