Anyone get a buyback yet??
You would think after all the lawyers they paid to write that BS up, they would have clarified better than "Purchase Price"
Nine worst words in the English language "I'm from the government and I'm here to help".
Besides they could care less about FCA anymore. They're trying to figure out how much sh$t they can f#ck up with all the fine money they gonna get from Volkswagen...

Yes, I don't think anyone knows anything about this. I called my local dealer and they didn't even have a clue that there was even a buyback program. The only thing they knew about was the special incentive.
I called NHTSA to see if I can get some information and they were also kind of clueless. I was trying to find out how exactly the fair market value was to be determined. A previous poster on this thread suggested that the fcarecall website amount is wrong. NHTSA told me that they and Chrysler agreed to a formula to calculate value, but she did not know the formula and she told me I had to get the formula from Chrysler.

Yes, it is chaotic. I have to say though that the service director at Larry H. Miller RAM in Surprise AZ has spent time on getting things clarified and he got it going for me. I was pleasantly surprised by his efforts and I really appreciate it.
He sent me this:
Andreas,
From the phone number 1-844-840-3730 I started the input ofyour information. They said they need your lein holder info, acct #,registration sent with a copy of the filled out buy back agreement that shouldbe up soon at www.mychryslerauto.com.The e-mail that everything should be sent to is fcarepurchase@impartialservices.com.The 3rd party appraiser will contact you and set a time for theinspection once they receive all of your info.
The repurchase form lists a copy of the preliminary estimate as a required attachment. I wonder if attaching a copy would somehow establish my agreement with the trade-in figure plus 10%. I'll hear what they have to say about this.
I'm disappointed that I haven't heard back from NHTSA on my request for clarification of what Purchase Price means. Maybe they will respond tomorrow.
My '12 RAM3500 qualifies for the buy-back because I haven't had the N49 recall done (left tie rod could break). The official start of the buy-back is tomorrow, Oct 1st, 2015. I do want to sell my truck back because I'm not too happy with how many things have broken on it and the really bad fuel economy compared to my previous 5.9 Cummins. I got my letter 2 weeks ago and called FCA a couple of times. Up to now I have only been able to verify that my truck is eligible. Nobody knows how it's done exactly etc. The service manager at my local dealership is supposed to call an independent 3rd party appraiser to have the inspection done at the dealership. I'm guessing the dealership's role is to be an agent of FCA but so far they have not received any briefing on how to process this whatsoever. Apparently there will be a conference call this afternoon....
I called the Fiat Chrysler U.S. Re-Purchasing hotline and asked the service rep, who calls who and when, how long they expect it to take, who pays me and when will that happen, etc....... She hadn't received any information either and therefore couldn't answer my questions. So she called the factory to find out. A representative by the name John (who wouldn't give me his last name) had no answers either but reassured me that everybody will be up to speed by tomorrow morning Oct. 1st, 2015
I'll be very impressed if the whole dealer network will be up to speed tomorrow but I'm not holding my breath. It almost feels like they didn't expect anyone to qualify or they would be more prepared. The recall N49 has been out since December 2014 from what I understand. I haven't received a letter to that recall (lost in junk mail perhaps), just a letter with a recall for the diesel fuel heater. That letter referenced N49 but not what that recall is about and how potentially dangerous it could be for me to keep on driving without having it fixed.
I had my truck serviced a couple of times since the recall letter was supposedly sent to me but the service writer never brought it up. Not even when I complained about alignment issues. Makes me think that the dealerships may not have known about it either. It's service revenue for them so I'd assume they'd be motivated to get them done, right?
It really looks like nobody is in charge of this at FCA. Or that person is sleeping right thru the deadline. Are any of you guys in the same situation? If this continues to go as badly it might be worth looking into hiring a lawyer to represent all who want to sell their trucks back based on the decree related to N49.

Yeah, pre-DEF SCR diesels are terrible when it comes to fuel economy. You either need to delete or buy a pre-SCR truck or a newer DEF truck regardless of brand.
It still amazes me that FCA has let something as simple as a tie rod end lead to heavy fines and vehicle buybacks...

....to my question about fair market value versus trade-in was a complete joke. Their lengthy email loaded with empty phrases and disclaimers can be summarized with:
Thank you for your email.
I'm not really surprised but what a bunch of cowardly ******!
I'll call them on Monday to see what I can get. I did send in my request form for the repurchase today.

I tried this again and was told that I needed to file a complaint with the FTC about FCA not complying with the consent order. I wonder how much it will cost me to get legal representation. Is there anyone here that is considering the repurchase? maybe we can pool our efforts?

Andreas: FCA
Andreas: are you familiar with the terms of the consent order?
Marina:
for the repurchase program information, you will need to contact FCA
Andreas: I'm not asking for the information, I'm asking about the issue of discrepancies between Purchase Price as per consent order and what FCA actually is offering.
Andreas: It appears that they're not in compliance with the consent order.
Marina:
you will need to contact the Federal Trade Commission to file a complaint against the manufacturer in regards to not complying with the consent order.
Andreas: ok, thank you

Well as expected, I chatted with a guy last night who was offered $30,000 on a buyback on his diesel Ram. In shopping his truck for trade for a Duramax, Powerstroke and new Cummins Ram the LOWEST trade offer he got was $36,000...
Before accepting the buy-back I gave trading it in another shot at a different dealer. It was an hour drive but well worth it - I got a great deal on a new 2015 RAM 2500 Mega cab Laramie Cummins 4WD. The dealer was very motivated to get out of that truck to make room for a 2016 model. I don't really need a dual axle truck anymore but the Mega cab is very useful for family trips so this worked out for both sides.
It was one of those rare occasions where I felt I was being treated with respect by the sales team in spite of being really tight on the money.... :-)
Thanks to John at Airpark Dodge Chrysler Jeep in Scottsdale, AZ I got into a new truck at a very good price.
