Default 5.7 vs 6.4 vs 6.7

Hey Guys,

So I drove a couple new trucks today. I drove a 17 Cummins Aisin Trans, 3.73 Gears 3500 SRW and an 18 Power Wagon. I have to say I was expecting A LOT more in the acceleration department. I felt the Cummins was a dog...granted, I understand that 30K LBS wouldn't slow it down at all, but I was hoping it'd be faster empty with high torque and kinda low gearing. PW was faster, but I honestly didn't feel it much faster than my 06 5.7 with 3.55 gears and 35" tires...I woulda thought the 6.4 and 4.10 gears woulda helped A LOT, like at least as fast or faster than my wife's Grand Cherokee 5.7 3.73...it puts you back in the seat a bit, the PW didn't do that, like I said, I don't feel it much different than my current truck which has reasons to be much slower...Thoughts as to why?

Gearing in the trans. It's a truck, its designed to move weight around, reliably, not quickly.

Yeah, I get that, but the Jeep and my truck have the same trans...is the PW trans that much different than the 545rfe?

The PW weighs a LOT more than the Jeep.

Gearing isn't much different between My trans and the PW trans. PW has 4.10 gears with 35" tires, making it like 3.83, I have 3.55 with 35" tires which makes it more like 3.09, 54 more torque 65 more HP, Only about 500 lbs more than my truck...but it was empty, I have a lot of tools in my truck. So I see everything being pretty close, but the PW having a bit of advantage in every category, yet didn't seem very impressive in comparison of acceleration. I guess it's kinda good, cuz it made me not really want a new truck. But I am just confused as to how it is possible.66RFE545RFE1st 3.231:11st 3.00:12nd 1.837:12nd 1.67:13rd 1.410:12nd Prime 1.50:14th 1.000:13rd 1.00:15th 0.816:14th 0.75:6th 0.625:15th 0.67:1

take a cummins out that has about 10,000 miles and see what its like,,, brand new they are dogs,, i think its cummins way to break engine in, Another thing, hook a trailer up to all 4 and i will tell you the cummins will blow the other 3 away. Like hey you said,, trucks are meant to work not race. As for your 5 speeds,,, with the 3.55 gears they are no power house till you get them moving above 30 mph. I will say my 15 ram with the 3.92 gears will leave my 09 with 3.55 in the dust from a dead stop. Another thing 2500 and 3500 trucks are not the same as the 1500,,, everything about them is heavy duty and weigh more,,, especially that diesel, it adds alot of weight to the truck
