Default 2010 Needs Tires

Anyone have any experience with Goodyear Wrangler SR-A or Falken Wildpeak H/T - 275/60/20's?

I do mostly highway - occasional snow (Pennsylvania) - don't need any mudders or anything super aggressive.

Hoping to replace on a bit of a budget.

Thanks !!

my 17 came with the sr-a on it, stay far away, they wear like iron, but grip like ****, rain will feel like ice and forget about snow.

I put a set of cooper at-3s on mine last month when the sr-a finally wore out (75k miles later)

Hi, Bill.
No specific recommendations, but my experience with Discount Tire has been very positive,
and they are highly rated in Consumer Reports. When I needed tires for my Dart, they were
among the least costly and their service was excellent. I would go to them with the same questions
and see what works. My RAM also uses 20's, and I know it won't be cheap when the time comes.

The higher the mileage rating is the worse the tire will be on snow and ice. To get high miles the rubber needs to be a harder compound. I run Cooper AT3 and drive on plenty of snow and ice here in Montana and Wyoming and they are great. The drawback is I get about 40K out of them because they are a soft compound making them great on snow and ice.

this is true to a point, but the at3s i just put on my 17 have a 65k mile treadwear warranty, unless you drive around with a trailer, you should be close to that number on life (you usually get a pro-rated warranty on the tires to that mileage if they wear out early)

the sr-a that came on my truck had a 50k mile threadwear warranty

you tell me which tire grips better (since you have driven on both).

I got 75k miles out of the SR-As to 5/32 tread hope to get the same out of the AT3s. But modern tread compounds and technology have made it possible to have a nice grippy tire which still has good treadwear.

Thanks everyone for the recommendations.

I went with the Wrangler SR-A 's - couldn't pass up the price $538 - installed out the door at Sam's Club.

Truck has 63,000 miles and this is the 3rd set of tires. Original were Goodyear HT ? that I got 38,000 out of replaced them in 2014, then went with Cooper HT+ from Tread Depot (when they were in business) which were fine for awhile. Since I hardly use the truck and it sits outside and given the age, I was losing air in each tire. I was tired of putting air in every time I went to use it. The Coopers were not all that bad, but being 6 years old and sitting for extended periods, I figured I would replace them. I plan on using the truck more this summer on some long trips.

Thanks again !
Bill
