I've been unable to use my 2018 Ram 2500 since August 2023. At first waiting for Break control Module & Hydraulic control Module. Nov, Then Dec, Then Jan Date keep getting Pushed out and Filally arrived in April of 2024. Is My truck back on the road Nope because in March of 24 found Power Steering leak so now I needed Line. Unavailable, no afterMarket parts. Told June, Then July, Then Nov, and Now Maybe April 16th of 25. While I dont blame the Dealership I am Frustrated. My 2018 ram 2500 with less that 19K has now Become a ornament in my driveway. Customer service is better then 45 mins every time I call to get thru to find out case worker (Remya) was out today, or is at lunch told they will call me right back when they return from lunch. (Been waiting 3 weeks and called there several time with no call back from case worker) Last time I spoke to her over 3 weeks ago the offered me 5 percent towards a new vehicle, and the 5 percent would be attached to my vin. At the time I told her they had to do better then that to see what they could do and since then she had ghosted me.She told me she had to talk to the Dealer to see what they could do. as of 11/1 no one had talked to George at the dealership. Talk to a Supervisor (Shane I Think) on 10/25 over a week ago who said they would followup on this even assign a new case worker and I would be hearing from someone by the 10/30. No call back. I called that Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, they left message for case worker and would call me back. Never happened. Called on 11/4 person told me my case worker was out and that his Supervisor Melissa was on the phone with another customer and would call me back when they got off the phone. Well she must still be on it and it Tuesday 11/5 and I'm still waiting for a call..
In there defence they did get me rental in the middle of the summer 2024 so I could pull my camper camping.
I have been a longtime (Ram, Dodge, Jeep) all My life 88 Dakota, 1998 Avenger, 2002 Ram 1500, 2008 Ram 1500, 2015 Cherokee, 2016 Cherokee, 2021 Cherokee (still own the last 4) But I'm thinking it may be time for a change. I don't feel my business has been appreciated. To offer me 5 percent for not having the use of my vehicle for over a year, when they are offering anyone 15 percent on 2024 ram 1500's. When a sales man checked to see if the 5 percent was attached to my vin he didn't see anything. and yes I know there are other incentives out there on the 24's now i'm just very frustrated to think I need to go 20+ Thousand in debt for a power steering line.
Mean While My truck sits in my driveway under warrenty Brakes are currently frozen tot e rotors, Gear shifter moves very hard who know what else will be wrong with it by the time the parts come in.
If you had an independent shop install an aftermarket line, you would actually be able to use your truck, and dodge would not be legally able to void your warranty.
Is your truck paid for? Or is there still a loan on it?
I might be tempted to contact a lawyer, and see what other recourse you might have. Given the issues Dodge is having at this point, and your current experience..... Buying a new one just doesn't seem like a good idea... Unless you can get a REALLY good price on it.....
There is no aftermarket part for another garage to get to put on. Yes trucks paid for. and I'm looking into the Lawyer situation.
and I should comment that today 11/5 the supervisor who was suppose to call back yesterday did today. Will see if I get a call back tomorrow and a follow up from the supervisor on Thursday

Erm, the first place I checked listed one..... (autozone) Granted, its a duralast, whom I do not trust..... but, that implies that any of the big chain auto parts stores should be able to get one.
You were right a aftermarket part is now available, both me and the dealership have been trying to get a hold of the case worker all last week left several messages for her to call me back to see if I buy it if they will allow them to put it on, still nothing. The supervisor who called me last tuesday on a holiday for them said she would follow up with me on Thursday last week and that didn't happen either. Spent total of 12 hrs on hold waiting to talk to anyone last week. All i can say is poor customer service. On another side a roofer came to my house to look at a leak I had My mother and sister previously used him and my self on apartment house roof, Found what he thought could be causing the leak put a new vent pipe cap and used three tubes of calk. Went to see what i Owed him and he refused to take any money, I'm also in service business and told him he drove here used all those material that i had to pay him something. after much talking he agreed to take money for at least the materials. His reply to me was you have used us before and we appreciate your business, (Now that was customer service) It was refreshing after all the I'm sorry about the part, I'm sorry they didn't call you back, I'm sorry over and over again after awhile if becomes so ungenuine.
Your truck should be out of factory warranty in any event, unless you bought the lifetime warranty???? If not, then installing the aftermarket part should be a non-issue. I know a lot of shops don't like to install parts you bring in yourself, as they don't make any money on that.... (the techs themselves don't care, so long as it is the correct part....) If the dealer won't do it, find an independent shop that will.
Have chrysler 8 year 80K MAXCARE Warrent so still under warrenty
Ah, well, that does alter the landscape a bit..... Still and all, if you get it fixed, regardless of where, at least it will be driveable again. I think legally, the worst Dodge could do, is not cover the aftermarket line under warranty...... I would verify that first though......
Update Approved the use of after market part. Still not sure if they will cover labor to put it on. Mean while they are not sure if they will cover other repairs like the Brakes and Rotors for freezing up from sitting for over a year along with the gear shifter that barely moves now. Then as they were driving it up onto to the tow truck to take it to the dealer it started leaking diesel fluid all over coming from the top of the fuel tank. I think its time to get this fixed and send it down the road.
