Default 2009 Ram

Dodge is shooting thier self in foot by not upgrading thier standard power.I dont think I will buy another Dodge because the base model is not really a choice ,a lot of us cannot afford the loaded models and the other guys base trucks will eat the base Dodges for breakfast. Is it so hard to put a 4.0liter 4 valve V-6 in the Dodges? -Kevin

????? it's like another 800-1200 dollars to get the 4.7L v8. which eats most of the competitions big v8's for lunch. yea and i confirmed that with dodge.com it's a 985 dollar charge to get the 4.7L if 985 bucks is too much more then you probably shouldn't be buying a truck in the first place

dont know,my dealers aren't that good, besides chevys standard pushrod engines would make short work of the 4.7 till here lately-I dont consider the early 4.7 s high performance-Anyway everyone doesnt have thousands of dollars to satisfy egos .Dodge wants more customers, they better get thier act together-An upgraded standard engine is not to much to ask-Thats the main beef I have with Ford-Kevin

lol i've driven chevy's standard engine that v6 they put in there is a turd and a half. even in RCSB. and the 4.7L eats the ford 5.4L as well. new 4.7's push 310 the big ford 5.4 only puts 300 which is sad. So I don't really know what ur going for. because in a loan that extra 985 makes about a 10 dollar a month difference. If ten dollars a month extra is enough that you can't afford it then you shouldn't even be considering buying a vehicle in the first place.

lol i mean chevy's base engine has v6 has 190hp. let's see adn their best has 315. that's a sad sad thing IMO. I dunoo where ur getting info that the base engine is that bad.

Nope my bad-I wasnt throwing off on the 4.7s.I was disapointed in the 09's because I read a review that said the 260hp 4.0 litre was gonna be standard. And my dream truck was a 09 Ram 4.0 litre reg cab 6ft bed 5spd auto Awd dark blue metallic with alloy wheels and believe it or not manual windows-what would the MSRP be on a truck like that.Believe it would be an efficient package with3.55 gears.Be a nice replacement for my Dakota . My trouble is-that to buy new I have to buy clearance trucks .I dont like the styling on the new Chevys a bit-Kevin

i doubt u'll be able to get the v6. v6 can only be put on now with a 2wd. 4.7L v8 with 310 hp is standard on the 4x4 models. which trust me my old man owns an 06 4.7 that has 235 hp and that sob moves. and I'm getting the 08 with 310 which is special ordered now. I got just about what you want but with power options and a few others for about 19.5k. dunno if that's in ur price range but the trucks sticker was 32.5k

u sound like a good canidate for an sxt model or st.B (same thing) they have the chrome wheels and all that with no power stuff other than locks and come standard with 4.7L when u get the 4x4. U'd be looking at 29ish msrp for that. little less if you went 4x2 but if you want 4x4 the 4.7L is the engine that's standard. plus when that thing is in a rcsb with a six speed manual. it will outdo a hemi anyway.

Man you got a deal on that truck, 310 hp divided by the curb weight on that truck is very favorable. She ought to honk! I paid a bit more then that for my 06 Dakota QC ST. The best mileage I ever got on a careful cruise was 22.6 mpg,do you think the V-8 Ram with 3.55 gears would get 20 + on a cruise? I'm lucky to break 16 mpg here in the hills-Kevin

on careful cruise my old mans with 3.92's hits 18. so my guess is yea u could do it with the 3.55's. remember tho when you go up to factory 20" wheels u have to get 3.92 axle ratio. so unless u go 17s ur getting the 3.92's

I would just go with the 4.7 anyways, it has more power, is more refined, and the fuel economy is not going to be much worse compare to the v6. My 3.7L only gets about a mile or two more per gallon better fuel economy than a 4.7 dakota does.
